Corrupt Indian Cricket

I'm keeping up with the MLB doping scandal from India and it's nothing compared to what's going on here. The recently concluded Indian Premiere League is the equivant of the 1919 Black Sox scandal. Players, referees, owners and the head of the India Cricket Association are all involved. Bookies across the country have been jailed and Bollywood (India's equilivant to Hollywood) actors are the go betweens between bookies, owners, players, refs and everybody else. Bookies would take bets on all imaginable plays, batting, bowling, scores, balls, strikes, (using some baseball terminology to explain). It gets even more interesting, the mastermind is the Godfather of Asia named Daewood, he lives in the open in Pakiistan and is involved in drugs, arms, gambling and also funding terrorism throughout the world. I'm waiting for the Bollywood movie.

Of course, it wouldn't be a Bollywood movie without it.

In a country where the entire government is corrupt (and I don't just mean the congressmen, or the PM or the President)...but pretty much everyone involved with government at every level from the top head to the traffic signal cop...is it's really a big deal if ppl associated with sports are corrupt? Wasn't it Walmart that paid millions of dollars in bribes to the politicians there to set up grocery stores?!?

You know India well. Any service, phone or Internet connection, drivers license, property tax etc., you must pay a bribe to an official. The politicians have become so arrogant they flaunt their corruption in front of everybody. Chief Ministers of States (basically feudal lords) don't steal millions, they steal billions of dollars. Even on the rare occasions politicians go to jail, there is no question that they keep everything they've pilloried.

Yeup...because I've a software startup there and I visit India pretty often now. Summers are nasty in Delhi, 120 degrees and humid as hell in August. But the Mangoes in summer are fukin' awesome. Best mangoes I've ever had. After eating Mangoes in India, I realized the Mangoes in US are a load of crap. I ate like 6 different type of Mangoes in India couple summers ago and they all taste different.
