Kaepernick, and its not as close as you think.

Buster Posey is a special player, and he clearly has made a world of difference since 2010. But Im going Kap, simply because baseball is much more of an individually separate sport. Buster Posey could win another MVP this year, but if the Giants rotation falters, its not going to matter. Its the same reason why Barry Bonds didnt make the Giants an automatic WS winner every year. Nobody around him in the lineup. In baseball, theres no one player or position that can single-handedly carry a team to a title quite like a great NFL QB.

Kaepernick is a franchise QB, which in the NFL, means everything. If you have a franchise QB, youre on the short list of teams with a real shot at a SB title. So much of a successful NFL team revolves around the QB.

Posey is probably the closest MLB version of how valuable a franchise QB is to an NFL team though.

Good question. I think the way Harbaugh has built the roster up would ease the pain of a Kap injury slightly, compared to a team like GB, who would instantly become a 3-5 win team without Rodgers.
Kyle Koiser
Kaepernick, without him 49ers would be lucky to get a WC spot (assuming there is no alex)

Without Posey, the Giants still have Panda, Romo, Cain, etc

Iirc, came down to final couple weeks against Arizona.

Without a qb, we are picking top 10 in draft by November

Gotta go with Steph. 49ers got to the NFC Championship game with Alex Smith. I do believe Kaep will be the best of all three in his respective sport, just not the most important.
