This paragraph made me so sad. Billy Beane basically said Cespedes won't be an Athletic past 2016..

Yoenis Céspedes would be the obvious star player for Oakland to wrap up to a big deal, but the club will need the go-ahead for a new stadium to have any real hope of re-signing Céspedes, who'll be a free agent after the 2015 season.

"It's disappointing, because it's very difficult at this stage to have that quality, unique franchise player," Beane said. "For the time being, we're never going to have that guy, that face of the franchise.

"As a Bay Area resident, my first thought when I heard about Posey was, 'This kid is going to be in the Bay Area his entire career. He's on track to be one of the all-time great Giants.' Unfortunately, we're probably not in a position to have anyone like that."

Its pretty sad, just shows you how much faith the front office has in Weeks, which is close to 0.
