The Joe Girardi thing could set off an interesting situation in L.A. if he moves on. Don Mattingly may decide to go to New York if his contract situation isn't dealt with. Meanwhile, Girardi is torn between leaving New York and going elsewhere; the Cubs will find out shortly. Down in Texas, pitching coach Mike Maddux is apparently interested in the Cubbies job.
