lol why would the Marlins want Matt Holliday? You would have to give up Miller or Taveras PLUS Adams and Wacha.
The Marlins might be cheap, but they arent dumb. Usually a guy like Stanton is NEVER available for trade at this age. Miami knows they can basically have their pick of elite prospects for him. I wouldnt be at all surprised if they asked you guys for Miller AND Taveras.
Like I told John...talking out my ass bro. You're overrating Stanton though. He would NEVER get Miller + Taveras + Adams and Wacha
Pirates are working w/ the Marlins now.
You put way too much value in "prospect" status. Baseball in general does this too much. Top prospects carry just as much value as superstar players sometimes. Its kind of weird how a guy like Oscar Taveras can be so "untouchable", when hes never played a day in the Majors. Giancarlo Stanton has already proven himself to be a big league star player. Hes young, hes got 45+ HR power, and hes under team control. If the Cardinals had a chance to get him, letting the "potential" of Taveras and Miller block them from making a deal would be foolish.
Stanton is basically a bird in the hand, and Miller/Taveras/Adams/Wacha are "2 in the bush". This becomes even more of a factor if he ends up in Pittsburgh, because he'll be haunting you in the Central for years to come.
I know it sounds like blasphemy to you, but theres still a chance Oscar Taveras ends up being a disappointment. Not necessarily a bust, but maybe hes Hunter Pence, not Barry Bonds. Just something to think about.
Too much value? No. I'm going off what I see. Oscar Taveras is the #1 hitting prospect in baseball. MLB Network said the same. Again, there is a difference between a "top prospect " and "THE TOP PROSPECT"
I crack up at how you claim Stanton to be a 45+ HR power, but then you laugh at other prospects. Hell, Stanton is what..23? Isn't he a prospect still? You're sounding like a hypocrite man. You keep saying how the Cardinals would need to trade their top two "prospects" for another "prospect"
I think in the long run you're just upset your mediocre Giants are now BELOW .500.
WTF? What does this convo have to do with the Giants? We just won our 2nd ring in 3 years. This season is gravy.
Stanton is not a prospect...Hes a Major Leaguer who has proven he can crush Major League pitching on a regular basis. How on earth are you trying to compare him to Taveras? Stanton reached 100 Major League home runs in just 1400 career AB's. Taveras hasnt even been good enough, or healthy enough to get the call up yet.
Age has nothing to do with the comparison of Stanton to Taveras. Stanton is in his 4th big league season. Doesnt matter if hes 23, hes no prospect. Hes a legit, middle of the order power bat.
Your Cardinals bias knows no bounds.
You're ridiculous man. No wonder John gives you s**t. Apparently 23 is veteran and 21 is "prospect"
THERE IS A REASON HE HASN'T BEEN CALLED UP YET. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE MARLINS AND THE CARDINALS. Do you understand? If there was no Allen Craig, Matt Holliday, Carlos Beltran, there would be a Taveras. THERE IS A REASON HE IS NOT HERE.
Taveras is 100 times the prospect Stanton is. If only prospects were down in Miami wasting their talent like Giancarlo is.
WAKE. THE. f**k. UP.
Here is a link if you get tired:....oh....Barry Bonds comparison.....

LOL so Taveras being hurt all the time has nothing to do with it? Or is it because Jon Jay is just WAY too valuable to sit? He's not ready.
Youre the one being ridiculous. You didnt even know you cant trade draft picks in baseball. Just because some knucklehead ex-GM threw a Bonds comparison out to Oscar Taveras to get attention doesnt mean hes going to be Barry Bonds. His numbers in the Minors so far dont indicate that hes the next Mike Trout or Bryce Harper.
A PROSPECT is a kid in the minor leagues who has a ton of talent and potential to some day be a Major League star, but has yet to prove anything. Oscar Taveras is a prospect. Hes a very good one too. Giancarlo Stanton is not a prospect. He hasnt been since 2010. He is 100 homers into his career as a Major League player. AGE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. Its about experience.
Nobody is arguing that Oscar Taveras isnt a top prospect. I dont get why youre getting all upset. It would be common sense to trade a guy who "MIGHT" be a star for a guy who "IS" a star already. Youre just caught up in Cardinal world where every prospect is the next HOF level player.
Stanton has already proven that hes going to be a great middle of the order bat for years to come for any big league team who chooses to trade for him. If you dont want to trade Taveras for him, thats fine, but you arent getting him for cheaper than that.
You're twisting s**t again. You mentioned how it'd require Taveras AND Miller to get Stanton. You can argue all you want, but there is 0 chance the Cardinals would do that. I'd say they are a fan of constantly bringing up rookie players. They have the #1 farm system in baseball and the #1 record in the MLB.
As I mentioned earlier, I was f**king around. IDGAF what the Marlins do....as long as they don't send him off to PIT
BTW, I'll send you a Taveras rookie card

I said I could see the Marlins asking for that. I was basing my point off a hypothetical Taveras for Stanton trade.
Oscar Taveras will probably be a great player. I really doubt hes Mike Trout, because the odds of that are pretty slim. Just the idea of Trout's 2012 season being possible for a rookie is now making fans gets their hopes up for their up and comer.
Maybe in a couple years a Stanton for Taveras trade looks dumb. Maybe Stanton keeps getting hurt, and fizzles as a true superstar. Maybe Taveras becomes a young Carlos Beltran. Maybe Stanton becomes the premier RF in baseball, and maybe Taveras ends up like Colby Rasmus. Who knows. For the Giants' sake I hope Taveras busts, because the last thing the rest of the NL needs is another star hitter on the Cards.

come on James. Stanton a prospect?
He had 37 home runs last year, which is eight less than Taveras has in 3.5 years in his entire minor league career.
And Taveras is not a better prospect than Stanton was. In 2010 he had 21 HR's at AAA in 192 AB's, got called up and then hit 22 more for the Marlins. He's the best young power hitter in the game for a reason.

A-rod is such a douche
biggest douche in sports, Im not kidding. I can't stand the guy, I never liked him. His career is already going down the drain and I hope it continues to.
I think he's the only player in sports that I actually have hate for
