How does that explain the slimy backdoor deal with Seattle?

They've known for at least a year that if the team is for sale, we are interested. Just look at the names that have been linked to interest in the two weeks since we found out -- Ron Burkle, Mark Mastrov, Larry Ellison, the anonymous Downtown Plaza group, and more willing to be smaller investors.

Wouldn't it make sense from a business perspective to inform us the team is for sale so we can prepare an offer? Before running to Seattle? If they found Hansen had the best deal, we'd still hate them but at least it would make some sense. But they agreed with Seattle before making the team available publicly.

This reeks of some grudge/hatred for Sac that is unfounded.

They knew Hansen could offer the most money.

This and if they had a group in sac that REALLY wanted to buy they would have already made on offer. It doesn't matter what the Maloofs were saying the team is not for sale blah blah blah, any smart business person would have made an offer already because they know team is struggling financially. I just dont think they had any serious buyers who wanted to keep the team in sac.
Reading the Maloof family, wikipedia page

Making fortunes off not really doing anything while most of their business deals failed.
- Beer distribution
- Casino
- Reality tv

They didn't make any fortunes. Their family did. They just wasted it all. Selling the beer distribution company just showed how broke they are. Why sell your only cow that makes milk?

So you have an asset and rather than open up bidding and see who will give what, you just pick one person and go with them? You don't shop your asset to a market that has been begging to buy it from you for years?

Very good chance -- and KJ says it could be announced by the end of the week -- the Kings will announce a majority owner who can match Seattle's offer. It may be too late, but it just shows that the money could in fact be the same. And the Maloofs still chose Seattle.
And by end of the week, I meant tonight.

Two billionaires teaming up to make an offer for the Kings and keep them here. Yes, Sacramento has serious buyers.

Sacramento is doing all it can do and then some to keep the team there. Stern should step in and make sure the Kings stay.
