Cardinals scored more runs and allowed less. Their lineup is clearly better (I'm sure you can even vouch for this)..they now have Carpenter back for the playoffs. You know Adam Wainwright can be lights out whenever at anytime. We have Lohse is consistent as f**k..Lynn a 18 game winner..so our rotation is pretty solid. Jason Motte tied for league lead in saves..we have our 7th, 8th, 9th inning guys finally set in stone. No more mixing and matching that backfired on LaRussa so many times. I just don't get it. Serious question though. I'd say the one thing that sticks out for me for you guys is Bochy obviously has experience over Matheny.

Wrong.
Not by much, but the giants have allowed less runs.

Our staff isn't pitching well.

But, we have the better pitching rotation.
Offense, cards scored 4.7 runs per game - Giants scored 4.4

in the 2nd half of the year, Giants had the best offense in the league.
If Lincecum returns to form - I think he puts us over the top.

Lincecum + Cain at the top of the rotation pushes everyone else down and the back end of the Cards rotation can't match up with the Giants (if Lincecum is on).

Bullpen - I'd give advantage to Giants, although, I don't watch cards games so I dont really know. I know Jason Motte is a pretty good closer... but the giants are 2-3 guys that are lock down in the pen and with Kontos that gives us 4 really quality relievers.

I see a lot of "ifs" there man. Yeah, well IF Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright pitch the way both you and I know they can, you guys are f**ked.

IF can work both ways. I'm going off what I've seen this year.

Also, 649 > 648. Obviously not a large difference, but I hear all this talk about the Giants unbelievable pitching staff all the time that has carried you. Well..yeah.

+117 = Cardinals run differential

+69 = Giants run differential

Only Milwaukee scored more runs than STL

Total runs allowed

Not run differential.

Cardinals runs allowed = 648

Giants runs allowed = 649

I mentioned run differential to factor in the Cardinals offense that scored more than the Giants.

I think the fact that the giants were the best road team in the NL is gonna play a huge role. Giants in 6.

Curious. What makes you think the Giants are the better team on paper?

Congrats, he'd be pitching out of the bullpen for us.

He is no better than Jaime Garcia who isn't even on our postseason roster

You play in band box stadiums all season. So runs scored doesn't mean much. Especially when you have a lower record.

Giants didn't lose a road series all 2nd half(not countin the last series when we rested players.)

I don't have time right now, but ill post later

You'll be seeing this again soon.

Cards are the better team IMO

Reaching? When the giants had the better record, lost their best player to suspension, lost their third best to wrist surgery, lost their best pitcher to mediocrity. I remember when Kyle lohse was known BY YOU, as Kyle LOSE.

We match up well. Beltran holiday and Molina = Pablo posey and pence IMO. Obviously you can argue towards your side but with who all these players really are, outside of this years numbers I would say its at least close. The other 5 players are pretty equal. I feel like the defense we put out is better than the cards. Romo = motte. Rest of our bullpen is better between Casilla Lopez mijares affeldt and I think Cain = carp. Bum = wainwright. Vogey = Lyon. Lincecum is the wild card.

So I mean pretty equal. Intangibles goes to giants for manager, home field and having the best player in the NL right now.

Again, your opinion will definitely differ. But it's how I feel. I've watched the giants all year. You have watched the cards. I know what this team brings and you know what Yours does. That's why I think it comes down to intangibles. Really do. Can't wait for a great series. I actually want 7 games.
