I would say this team is screwed, but there's reason to be optimistic.
1) they have money
2) they have alot of young starting pitchers in the lower minors
3) They have a lot of good players on the team already.
All Sabean needs to do is to not hand out bad contracts like he did Pagan and Affeldt. I much rather for them to lay low and rebuild through the minors. Much harder said than done.

I was thinking about how many Giants have actually performed up to expectations this year. I came up with just 7
1) Madison Bumgarner
2) Sergio Romo
3) Chad Gaudin ( far exceeded)
4) Brandon Crawford ( nice step up this yr)
5) Brandon Belt ( still needs to improve but a step up for him)
6) Javier Lopez
7) Hunter Pence
I know.. the chosen one isnt on the list but his numbers are down across the board. It doesnt mean Buster is having a bad year but he is hitting just .277 with ZERO homeruns with runners in scoring position. I just expect more out of him.

Buster?
Buster is obviously our best player by a mile. I just think he is having a slightly down year for his standards. My expectations for him are just higher I suppose.

I think its a VERY good possibility that the Giants dont extend a qualifying offer to him. He isnt worth 13M per year thats for sure. I just dont see Timmy being able to ever be even a #3 again.
At this point the only pending FA who should receive a QO is Pence.
The Giants will need to revamp the #3-5 spots in the starting rotation, get a real starting LF (and RF if they lose Pence), tweak the bench and bullpen (although I think with a full offseason of rest this will be the least of their problems)
Needless to say big changes are going to need to be made come this off season

Hope Hembree is added soon. Might as well see what he can do.

It uses it unwisely. But yes, they do have money.
