I wasn't even aware she got injured. Saw an interview with her 3 weeks back. I said 'wow, she's foxy'

Yeah she was a favorite and a big reason that the half pipe (skiing) became and Olympic sport.
This is sad, but not totally unexpected. I've been saying for the past several years that the tricks at the X Games are at the point where it's only a matter of time until we see someone die live on TV during the games.
And there are more safety precautions during practice (when she had her wreck) than during the live runs.
RIP Sarah Burke. Hopefully, this leads to increased safety measures and precaution for the other athletes.
