BCS National Championship

Well the SEC is the toughest conference by far. Since all the other contenders for the BCS title game lost at least once (other than LSU) I think voters simply went by which team they felt was the best among 1 loss teams. Oklahoma St. has only themselves to blame for losing to an average Iowa St. team.

How do you know the SEC is the best conference?

Don't use rankings as your answer because rankings are based on opinions

Yea...kinda like how NY Giants split the season series with Patriots and were crowned the Superbowl Champs.

The Giants won their conference and earned the chance to play the Patriots. If LSU wins all we learned is that LSU is the best team in the SEC and nobody else matters.

Alabama/ LSU are the 2 best teams. I don't see how you can debate it. Now would I have rather seen LSU/ OSU, sure. For the record, THIS year the big12 was top to bottom the best conference, it just didn't have the dominant team.

It's pretty obvious when you watch 'em play.

It was obvious a lot of times ion sports history but they never won championships

The Rams were so much better then the Patriots in 2001

The Patriots were so much better then the Giants in 2007

The A's were sop much better then the Reds in 1990

The Russians were so much better then us in 1980

many many more examples

What you are doing is guessing based on eye ball test.... Of course college football says, why play the games, we know who is better.,....

the fact that Alabama did not even win the division in their own conference is a travesty.

But we base it on what. Our opinion that the SEC is so much better..... But, How do we know. We are only guessing.

In NFL, you earn the right to play in Superbowl by winning every game in the playoffs...in BCS - the top two teams earn the right to play for the championship and both LSU and Alabama earned that right during the regular season.

Yeah, the "we got it right, because the best two teams are playing for the title" argument also drives me nuts. Look at the NFL Playoffs over the last decade... how many times did the #1 seed from both conferences make the Super Bowl? I think twice (Patriots vs. Eagles, Saints vs. Colts).

Also, the idea of a "best" team in football is a misnomer, because football is all about matchups. The "best" team is capable of being beat by a team that matches up against its strengths.

How did Alabama earn it? By playing in the SEC (which this year is overated) and by being ranked high enough that a HOME loss does not hurt them as bad.
not gonna watch, lol.

Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas...

Anybody who thinks there's a better conference than the SEC is delusional.

My problem with the SEC is that they play nobody outside their conference. Besides Georgia playing Boise State (in Georgia they will not go to Boise and still lost ) and LSU playing Oregon (which scored the most points on them all year). Who have they played all year besides each other the list is long and distinguished, The Citadel, Georgia Southern, Kent State, North Texas, North Western St, Western Kentucky, Kent St, New Mexico State, Troy, East Carolina, Navy and that is just the teams you named,

I forgot Utah State, Coastal Carolina, and Florida Atlantic

SEC is a joke. Every year they have 2-3 good teams and a bunch of trash teams. The two teams blow through their easy schedules, and have one "real" game along the way that they have to win to make it to the BCS title game.

The one exception in the last decade is LSU this year. Scheduling Oregon and going to WVU took balls.

You only get one shot at the SEC a year because they usually will not play anyone and if they do it is almost always at home. For all of the talk on the greatness of the SEC they went .500 last year in bowl games. They year before they went 6-4. They play with a loaded deck because they start out ranked high and then don't play anyone and once a team looks like it is going to make it into the National title game they seem to end up getting all of the calls in close games in SEC games.

LSU and alabama have hands down the most talent in college football. They will a high amount of 1st round picks this year.

How did LSU do against Oregon and WVU?

Didn't Alabama whoop up on Penn State?
