its gonna be mike brown or another one of those tough guys we signed

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't be surprised if Wingels got the "A". Would probably put him ahead of Thornton, but I think one of the veterans retains the "A" at least.

"C" Pavelski
"A" Thornton or Marleau
"A" Burns or Wingels

Reason I don't think Burns is named captain is because he's got kind of a "class clown" personality and I think some players may not take him all that seriously in that role.

Pavelski isn't "old", but he's 30 and while Couture may more fit the "youth movement", I think the Big Pavelski seems like a guy the players might see as more of a fit for captaincy.

Defensive player, definitely. Overall, it's arguable.

Vlasic and Pavs are the best defensive and offensive players on the team, respectively, right now.
According to this report, this is the projected Sharks line-up this season:

http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=729317

FORWARDS

Tomas Hertl - Joe Thornton - Joe Pavelski
Matt Nieto - Logan Couture - Patrick Marleau
Tommy Wingels - James Sheppard - Freddie Hamilton
Mike Brown - Andrew Desjardins - Tyler Kennedy
John Scott - Tye McGinn

DEFENSEMEN

Marc-Edouard Vlasic - Jason Demers
Justin Braun - Brent Burns
Scott Hannan - Matt Irwin
Matt Tennyson

They're not expecting Mueller to make the starting roster. But I have a hard time believing he won't at least get some PT up in the NHL this season.

The offensive line-up could be good if Hamilton makes major strides and either Kennedy has a rebound year OR if he and Mike Brown are supplanted by some of the much more promising young talent we have coming up like Chris Tierney and Barclay Goodrow.

Pretty meh as in it's the same squad as last year for the most part.

doing the same things, expecting different results

I guess they feel like they could've won the cup if it hadn't been for the collapse. Maybe they feel the team will play with a new sense of urgency that pushes them to a cup victory now that they have had a taste of an experience that they never in their lives want to repeat again.

By mid-season, I think the team will look different. I think some of the young blood will make a difference and flash some good things that may push us a step further in the playoffs.

Lol the same mindset going into every season

I hope they prove to the fans and the NHL world that they can overcome the playoff blunders and at least get to a damn cup final.
