Good article on Mirco Mueller's likelihood of making the roster this year: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=725996&navid=nhl:topheads

Also confirms what I heard in an interview a few weeks back, he's up to 205 now, which puts him at a great size to start. At 19 years old and still room to grow, 6-3 205 is a nice improvement from his draft day measurable of 6-3 185.

Good post
Good stuff. Very much looking forward to this youth movement. Excited to see Mueller play.

Kid says his game is molded after Duncan Keith -- I think we'd all be pretty ecstatic if he turned out to be that caliber of a player, a young player at that, for our team. I don't doubt there'd be growing pains, but if Vlasic can do it at 19, Mueller could too.

some people need to get the f**k over themselves

tons of sports teams have cheerleaders. oh, boo f**king hoo the sharks are going to have girls showing midriff on skates. i assume these same people are crying about the niners, raiders and warrior girls? nah? they're just whining. how about some focus on all the useless goons we're signing? or that we've done nothing at all in fa?

lol, holy s**t! Just saw this. I'm so not surprised that someSharks fans are butt hurt about this.

First, I kind of agree with "ice girls" being pointless. They won't sell tickets, and they don't add to the game experience. I feel the same way about cheerleaders too by the way. If you are at a sports game and you are excited about staring at some chick with midriff 200 feet away, you got problems. For one, there is going to be more attractive girls at any sports game within 20 feet of you. Anytime I've gone to a Sharks game, there are lot of cuties there.

Second, the people grandstanding that the "ice girls" is some kind of sexist attack on women is embarrassing lol. People are being offended that a woman outfit shows a midriff? Are you serious? Talk about unattractive women being jealous of men salivating over attractive women....I mean you might as well attack ALL cheerleaders/dance teams in ALL sports. Why single out the Sharks on this? And if you really wanted to attack sports on a more true sexist angle IMO, it probably should be a complaint that there are clearly unwritten rules on female reporters in sports who almost always are attractive. You really think Erin Andrews got her break because her sports knowledge and resume was superior to all others? There are probably a lot of unattractive women that actually have a ton of sports knowledge that never get a chance to be involved in sports media because they don't fit the sex object category enough.

Third, its odd to me so many mothers are saying (paraphrasing) " my daughter plays hockey but because of this she will now want to be a slut and sex object for men!" What?!? You think Ice Girls are the thing thats going to do that? Talk about a complete loss of perspective. I'm pretty sure your daughter is more likely to be influence by Miley Cyrus (or the next Disney pop star) then some chick cleaning the ice during commercial breaks.

To end this rant, this flap about ice girls will forever be tied to the Sharks franchise. Congratulations

Its just a bunch of lesbians complaining about nothing. Those are the most conservative outfits ive ever seen. "Sexist"? Give me a break. Theyre wearing long sleeves.

I thought it was strange that he flat out said there was never any intention of trading Marleau or Thorton.
Torres has a knee infection and will miss a chunk of time this season.. they'll have to do more repair on his ACL too: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=728856

Also, interesting quote from Patrick Marleau... he said he fully expects to be the captain in 2014-15. Sharks will start training camp with NO Captain or Alternates; it will be an open competition. See Below:

"It's a big honor and it's a big responsibility so it's a little strange when they take it away from you," Thornton told David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News.

McLellan said it would be an open competition to determine the next captain.

"We're going to re-establish the hierarchy and the culture in the organization," McLellan said, according to CSN Bay Area. "If it's real evident that [Thornton] is the guy, he'll be the captain. If there's somebody else that assumes that role and is prepared to take it on and is doing a very good job, then they will be. To say we stripped him, no. We've cleaned the slate, and we're going to go forward."

Marleau told the Mercury News he expects to regain his status.

"I will do what I have always done," he said via text message. "Play hard, be professional on and off the ice, lead by example. That is why I will be wearing a letter after training camp."

A letter for Marleau could be C or A doesn't mean anything. He's right.

He won't be a C. Been there and done that.

Who is Captain Material?

I'm guessing it'll be Burns

Deep down, I think Marleau believes he should be the captain. But in any case, as a fan my top 5 picks would be: 1. Pavelski, 2. Burns, 3. Couture, 4. Vlasic, 5. Thornton

I find it interesting that Bergman, at 18 years old, is actually being given a shot to make the team as a newly drafted rookie.

You might be right.

Marleau is my favorite player and I would love to see him dawn the C again... But I don't think it happens, Pavs is probably right

I thought Couture would be but he wilted in the playoffs last year... Not sure if he was hurt or not
if it isnt vlasic

its gonna be mike brown or another one of those tough guys we signed
