we cant trade Marleau! He is Mr. San Jose
biiiiig mistake - teddy kgb

insanity - doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result
I am honestly glad they kept McLellan and the staff intact. Look what happened to Vancouver after they got rid of the only coach to take them to the Stanley Cup in years. He's doing it again with another team in New York. Canucks look like imbeciles right now for letting go of a coach that helped keep them a contender. With virtually the same cast of players, a roster with a ton of talent still, they turned into a terrible team.

Anything can happen when you make the playoffs, so getting there consistently every year is a HUGE deal. I feel like the Sharks had to have what happened to them to learn their lesson and become a team that never lets something like that happen again and with the memory of such catastrophic events forever burned in their minds, they will strive to do what it takes to punish the opposition into submission and finish the job.

Vancouver is a franchise in disarray. They went from having Schneider and Luongo in net to Eddie Lack. The Sedins are getting old and that team is no longer competitive. Will they finish ahead of the Sharks, Kings and Ducks any time soon? Probably not. All those President's Trophies earned while fattening up on Calgary, Edmonton, and a young Colorado squad don't mean a thing now. That team's in trouble.
rotoworld-

"There have been indicators this off-season that the Sharks may take the "C" away from Joe Thornton.

GM Doug Wilson and head coach Todd McLellan have talked about turning the team over to their younger players. Additionally, Wilson said last week on Yahoo Sports Talk Live that there will be "different players in core leadership roles." Dan Boyle wore an "A" on his sweater and he won't be back with the team next year. San Jose has also done this before when they stripped Patrick Marleau of the team's captaincy before the 2009-10 season. Thornton has a no-trade clause and he may not want to leave the team even if his "C" is taken, but it could still be an odd situation to play through."

This is a good idea imo.

Marleau had a solid playoffs, and was our 2nd best scorer last year. He was just given a 3 year deal, and is the Sharks all time franchise guy. I highly doubt we would trade him.

They were just one year removed from a playoff berth, and again this all goes back to their GM and coach combining for stupid moves. They collectively have only themselves to blame for becoming a laughing stock -- they made the roster and staff -- so the deserve a massive amount of blame for the team's plummet.
By the way, am I the only one that finds it laughable that half the media is talking about how the Kings "almost won the series" in the last game? It's not, "Oh they lost the game" or something.. the tone taken on is as if they all want their beloved Kings in the Cup finals and all they can talk about is how disappointing the "almost-win-but-not-win" was, instead of talking about Chicago's efforts to give them victory.

And in other news, the Sharks signs a new Swedish Forward, Melker Karlsson from the European league: http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=721282

Looks like he had a nice showing this season and during his team's playoffs.
