I think wherever he goes means certain prospects get less PT. If he goes to defense, that's less time for guys like Tennyson, Petrecki, and Abeltshuaser/Doherty/Acolatse. Offense, less chances for Hamilton, Nieto, and Hertl.

We have several spots open next year on offense. Just likely 1 on defense

I feel the same. For a decent price I say we keep him. Guys like Desjardins can be replaced more easily than Torres. Torres brings a different kind of presence to the team that I think we need.

Really? I don't know about that one. Gomez was outstanding in the playoffs. Watching him out there, he was easily one of the top guys on the ice. Desjardins did virtually nothing all year. 3 points in 42 games with a -6 rating, no points in the playoffs and a +1 rating. I would keep Gomez over him. I liked Sheppard a little more, but we'll see what the team does when it comes to decision time.

Not to say he was a superstar or anything, but he was a valuable role player that helped provide energy and create some scoring chances. He had 15 points in 39 games with us playing primarily on the 4th line so I feel like he's being underrated a little bit.
