He didn't leave his feat as the announcer stated. It was more one of those type of hits were he didn't need to hit the guy there. But this is the playoffs and they take the physical up a notch. The injury was more a result of the position the player happened to be in.
Penalty, sort of, but not dirty in even the slightest.

no I wouldn't have.
And this isn't football. There is no defenseless player rule. If a guy is coming through trolly tracks with his head down you can light him up.
It was a questionable call. But with everything else the Canucks have done I can see why it was made.
But it was not vicious like the intermission show just said.
