Defensively he is far superior to what Jordan was.
If you actually believe this statement, then you know nothing about basketball.
If he continues to play the kind of defense he has played in the playoffs this year, then he will be considered a better defender. Many ppl (including the post-game crew of ESPN) called his defensive performance equivalent to Scottie Pippen.
Everybody knows Pippen >>> Jordan, defensively.
Let's actually wait and see if he can even guard Dirk successfully. I have doubts.
If it was Michael Jordan, not only would he demand to guard Dirk, but he would do it extremely successfully with everything on the line.
Michael would not be able to guard Dirk. He was 6'6". Dirk is 7'1".
bruce bowen was 6'6 nd would lock dirk down ... calm that garbage down ... dirks not bothered by height nd brons 2 inch over jordan is not signifcant against dirk who has a high arc ...
Bruce Bowen locked Dirk down? Could you tell me in which playoff series Bowen locked Dirk down.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-060508
show me when bron locked down a pg, sg, sf, nd pf ...
That's one game...
You want to see Dirk's numbers for rest of the series?
20, 21, 27, 28, 31, 26, and 37 in game 7. He shot well over 50% for the series.
...and Lebron James doesn't guard one guy for the whole game. He switches off because of his versatility. I don't know what you want me to show, you just need to watch the games. Lebron James played good defense in Cleveland, but not great. He has really focused on defense in Miami and I've to give Spols a LOT of credit for that.

But you can't ignore the help defense and the fact that the Heat were sending extra defenders at Rose.
And how much of that had to do with the stagnant Bulls offense which was hard to watch at times? And how much of that was simply Derrick Rose sucking? He shot 37% against the Indiana Pacers. Maybe we should start comparing Paul George to Bruce Bowen and give him multiple defensive player of the year awards.
Stop overrating Lebron James. Just stop it. It's annoying.

"How effective has James been on defense as of late? When he guarded Bulls guard Derrick Rose in the Eastern Conference Finals, Rose shot 6.3% from the floor. Derrick Rose won the NBA MVP this year. MVP voters will be forgiven if they are feeling a bit of buyer's remorse today."

Just did a little more research, and that's the correct number.
After going 0-for-5 from the floor with a turnover when guarded by LeBron James in Game 4, Derrick Rose struggled against him once again Thursday, going 1-for-10 with two turnovers in Game 5. Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays.

That is absolute domination of one of the best players in the league. And these guys are absolutely crazy if they don't see the difference. Lebron is so much more dominant against Rose than anybody else. It's not even close. "Well Rose struggled against Miami generally, blah, blah." He had like 20 points a game. So he could function. He just couldn't function against Lebron... But these guys will refuse to recognize it or try to diminish it. Even Pippen knows what kind of defense we are seeing here...

Also, as crzy said about help defense, Lebron is one of their best help defenders. Dude averaged nearly as many blocks as the 2nd highest player in the playoffs, Tim Duncan who had 2.8 or something.
Lebron was the help defense.
