Right. What I want is for the team to be a contender. As long as it's a contender, it has a chance every year. Right now and for the foreseeable future, the team is in the mix. Vegas has them with the third best odds to win the next Super Bowl.

I hear you. Those 10 years were brutal. Humbled me so much that all I need is a chance every year. I understand the coaching issues. Very frustrated with a couple myself last year but yeah just having a chance every year makes me happy. Brutal 10 years.

You guys realize you're getting worked up about a Mike Florio report? A report that essentially states, "Nothing is happening?"

Use your brains for just a moment. It's the offseason. Contract talks have only "stalled" because they're not happening right at this moment. Florio can literally write this kind of post about ANYTHING.

Seriously, nothing is "stalled." It's just on hold, the same way it's been since the last time they tried to figure out a contact for Harbs. Nothing has changed... it's just Florio being Florio generating content.

Is that what's going on? I try not to pay any attention to Florio's articles anymore. Why bother? I think these so-called journalists should be treated like a batter. In Florio's case this off season - Harbaugh being traded to the Browns! Strike one; Harbaugh and Baalke don't get along, one's got to go! Strike two; Niners will not excercise Aldon Smith's option year! Steeeerrrrriiiiike Three! You're outta there! Florio, what are you still doing standing at the plate?

Yeah, but the stuff you listed isn't all Florio AND some of it was real-sh.

Like Harbs to the Browns? That wasn't fabricated. The Browns called the 49ers and the 49ers said no.

And Tim Kawakami was the first guy to report Aldon Smith's option-issue, so Florio isn't wrong re-reporting what Timmy first published.

What Florio DOES do is take the absence of news and make it news. You always know when he does it because he'll use the words "yet" or list an unnamed source. For example...

• "No new contract talks between the 49ers and Michael Crabtree, yet."
• "No grievance filed by Jimmy Graham, yet."
• "Johnny Manzeil hasn't punched a baby, yet."

Then he lists an unnamed source talking about the fact that nothing has happened because of whatever. It's easy and he does it all the time.

"An unnamed source has told PFT that Johnny Manzeil has talked to his agent about punching babies in the off-season. Apparently, Manzeil has a history of baby-punching, stemming back to college. Manzeil has yet to punch a baby while in the pros, but the Browns and the rest of the league will continue to carefully watch Johnny Football around children. A baby could be punched any day now."

See, I can be a hack-journalist too!

To me this is a very dangerous mindset. The barometer should not be "has he won Super Bowls", it should be "are we consistently in a position to win one?".

Look at someone like Bill Belichick. Belichick is probably the best coach in the game today (in fact, I would say he is inarguably the best coach of his era, but I digress). In 14 seasons with the Patriots, he's won the Super Bowl "only" 3 times. That means 11 out of his 14 (79% of the time) seasons he's "failed". Over the last nine seasons, he hasn't won a single Super Bowl (this includes 3 AFC Championship Game losses and 2 Super Bowl losses).

Football is a game of inches, and often times wins or losses don't come down to coaching, they come down to lucky breaks (especially in win-or-go-home, make-or-break games). Personally, I'd hate to see Harbaugh kicked to the curb because he hasn't won it all. Making it to the NFCCG 3 years in a row and instantly transforming our franchise into a juggernaut says expontentially more about his coaching ability than his lack of Super Bowls does.

I would absolutely hate to see Baalke/York decide that he lacks the "killer instinct" to win it all and push him out the door, only to bring in someone else who would almost assuredly be a downgrade.

Exactly. Harb better get an extension. Some people have real short memory and have forgotten about how it was pre-harbaugh

+1. 49ers are playing with fire if they are denying Harbaugh top dollar due to lack of a SB victory. He's a Top 3 coach in the game. He should be payed like one.

Mike Tomlin is a SB winner for f**ks sake. Anybody want to trade Harbaugh for Tomlin and pay him "SB winner" money? Hell no. Harbaugh all day, every day. Pay the man,

I think that Harbaugh has two years left on his contract---2014 and 2015. Is that correct?

If that is correct, wouldn't it be normal for him to signed sometime before the start of the 2015 season?

I have no real idea of what Harbaugh expects in a contract or what the team has offered him.

The team has done very well with Harbaugh as a head coach, so it would make sense for him to be paid very well.

But, Harbaugh's contract does not affect the cap, so I do not really care all that much what he gets paid.

A unanimous vote by the Alabama system trustees' compensation committee Tuesday made Saban's new 8-year, $55.2 million deal official nearly six months after the university announced the agreement.

Um you do know that comes out to 6.9 million a year. Less then Bill Belichick (7.5 million), Jeff Fisher (7 million), Andy Reid (7.5 million), Sean Payton (8 million) & Pete Carroll (7+ million).Tom Coughlin makes 6.67 million & Chip Kelly makes 6.5 million. Also Mike Shanahan was making 7 million before being fired.

I can add. Just trying to point out that Harbaugh is going to want more than a college coach.

Give him 10 years 100 million
I have a sick ill feeling that this is Harbaugh's last ride with us. I better be wrong and I HOPE Im wrong but c'mon why didn't he sign his extension?

Because he wants to win a SB first and get paid more

Was there even am extension offered
I hope a deal gets done at some point. I don't want the nightmare of losing Harbs, and replacing him with Jed's man crush (Tomsula) to become a reality. Don't get me wrong, I love Jim, but only in his current capacity.

Good question?

Does anybody know if, or when, an actual extension was offered?

Does anybody know anything concrete about the negotiations between the team and Harbaugh?

Bingo! Jim Harbaugh is betting on himself. A win in Superbowl 49 and his value goes up! I don't think Harbaugh is going anywhere. I think there is only a 5% chance he leaves. He has helped build this team (Kap) ... no reason to move on.
