we definitely need a third line veteran presence. those bottom two lines have almost nothing outside of handzus.

What do you mean? We get a 2nd round pick, don't we? That's something. Something better than Patrick White, too, probably. The guy wasn't doing anything. Now we have a high pick to get someone in here who could actually do something in the NHL -- like actually make it into an NHL game to begin with.

See that's what I was saying. That could be someone who winds up replacing Charlie Coyle. A 2nd rounder can often times equate to a 1st-round talent who slightly slid. I think it's pretty significant, actually.

a second round pick isn't that much considering what we gave up. whether i like erhoff or not, he's still a top 4 dman.

OTC is spot on, you can find good value in the second round. Or maybe that pick is traded during the season for a good winger.

That's something too that could be HUGE for us. If Sheppard doesn't do anything, we could still deal that away.

Or we could hang on to this pick and it would negate the pick we lost in our trade for Sheppard. Either way, we're better off with the 2nd than keeping White. Erhoff's rights were dealt for 4th round picks this year. I think in the end, we wouldn't have been much better off keeping him and having no cap space at the time.

I for one am extremely excited with the team we're going into this season with. Not only do we have a tremendously talented squad in all facets now, we have a lot of high-rising youngsters that should provide adequate depth in case of any injures. We should be very good even if we have injuries, but if we stay healthy, we should straight up DOMINATE.
