Anyone who thinks Bonds is better than Griffey has an uphill battle, because their guy cheated.
Who knows, maybe Griffey cheated. I doubt it, though. He went through the normal progression of weight gain as he aged. Instead of adding Schwarzenegger muscles to his arms, shoulders, chest, and head, like Bonds did, Griffey just added a spare tire and a second chin.
Some of his injuries were due to a combination of his stellar play in the outfield and his notoriously poor commitment to conditioning in the offseason. Which is a scary thought. He's probably the most talented baseball player ever. How great could he have been if he had a stronger work ethic?
I actually saw him play Class A ball for the long since defunct San Bernardino Spirit. I think he was only there two weeks, it was obvious he had a lot of talent and wasn't going to be in the minors very long.
