I thought he would make more money in the NHL.

Anyway, he signed a 6 year contract -- A 6 YEAR CONTRACT! That will push him past 40, and as a goalie, I doubt that he'll be effective at that age!

lol

Marty Brodeur is still pretty good at age 38. Plus Naby won't be facing NHL quality shooters. He'll be fine (and rich).

Nabby is no Brodeur. But he is making pretty insane money to play against over the hill players. I believe the highest paid NHL goalies are making between $6-7million.

And the same club is reportedly offering Kovalchuk $40 million for 4 years.

KHL must be doing extremely well if one of its top clubs can pay 2 good players the equivalent of the top players in the NHL. Makes you wonder how much Ovechkin or Malkin could be getting, probably like $15 million/year in the KHL. The NHL better get back on ESPN and increase revenue ASAP

I actually miss Ekman.

Oh, and by the way. Sharks sign a defenseman. Championship: http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=533976

hell yes. Plus he's only 23 with a ton upside left. It's a bonus that he brings the SC experience with the Hawks.

He is a good up and coming dman

At 23, he is 6-3 and around 200lbs with room to grow

He wont put of stats, but is a solid stay at home dman who will improve with time. He is a shot blocker, blocking 4 in game six.

also scotty bowman compared him to Nick Lidstrom too.
this isnt a espn writer

but a blackhawks correspondent

"As for Hjalmarsson, he finally began living up to some of the praise that Scotty Bowman heaped upon him early in the year when he compared the young Swede to veteran Detroit blue liner Nicklas Lidstrom. While Hjalmarsson may not be as dangerous an offensive threat as Lidstrom, he certainly can hold his own with his decent slapshot and exceptional passing ability. His real talent, however, lies with his defense.

Not only is Hjalmarsson lightning quick on his feet, but he also can block a shot and bounce back up without missing a beat. This ability to take away passing and shooting lanes with a sprawling block attempt makes him a nuisance for opponents, and his penchant for maintaining an active stick also creates problems for attackers. Needless to say, he will be looking for a pretty good pay raise when he and his agent meet with the Hawks at the negotiating table."
