Oh yeah, Carter was named Texas League player of the year.
Nice win tonight, was ugly on both sides though.
Gio with another rough outing but even so, he's K'ing more than 10 K per 9 IP.
Sweeney is coming along nicely with the bat. If he can finish the year around .275/.330/.390 with 25+ 2Bs/7-9 HRs/45-50 RBIs, I'd take it. Course you'd still want more power from him.
.280-.290/.340-.350/.400+ with 30-35 2Bs/10-15 HRs/60 RBIs, I guess would be best case and a realistic scenario for Sweeney.

It was tied 4-4 until Matt Holliday just hit a 3 run bomb in the bottom of the 7th to take the lead.

And that 9th inning in a nutshell is what is wrong with the A's.
1st and 2nd nobody out to start the inning, Suzuki up, not even one bunt attempt. Way to go Geren!
I guess the small ball approach which has worked for most of the past two months went totally out the window eh.
Then Cust being the ultra selective batter he is, watches a 3-2 fastball in the inside half of the plate at the knees go by and why he thought it was a ball dumbfounds me.
Nomar flies out to shallow CF to end the game.

Why is Nomar still on the team anyways?
Telling me the A's couldn't deal him for even a C or D level prospect. Why not let him finish off this season and possibly his career for a team needing a veteran bat off the bench.
For the past weeks, all we heard was that Nomar was gonna be sent to a contending team and he's still here? f**k, release him if no team offered to deal for him.
Be a classless move if there were teams wanting Nomar and the A's held onto him for some reason, I don't know why at this point of the season.

With a six man rotation now, would the A's be willing to let both Cahill and Anderson finish out the season in the rotation?
I still think they both should be shutdown soon after the next start or two.

Powell who I spoke highly of just a few days ago.
Well he hits a GS.
8-0 A's in the 2nd.

Well this should be an easy win now for Cahill.
Cahill has pitched pretty well the past four outings and with this cushion, should breeze thru today's game now.
Just too bad during the past four outings where he has a 2.34 ERA/1.04 WHIP and all of them being of "quality", that he has only a 1-1 record to show for it.
Like earlier in the season when he was dealing but couldn't get any wins.
A's at this point don't have any SP with ten wins, heck no pitcher on the A's staff this year has 10 wins but this would be Cahill's 8th of the season...honestly could have 12 or 13 at least had he pitched for any other team really in MLB.

PP had their top positional prospect list and Carter was 17 and Wallace was 30.
I don't know what Carter has to do to get more respect?
09 season has been fabulous...
.334/.429/.578 with 42 2Bs/2 3Bs/27 HRs/113 RBIs and is 13/18 on SBs
...at the age of 22 and seeing the #s he's putting up. Carter could finish the year easily with close to 45+ 2Bs and 30+ HRs/120+ RBIs.
Okay he K's a lot but his K % is down from last year and most of all the power hitting prospects in the minors, both in the lower and higher levels, K just as much and maybe even more than Carter does.
