wish we would've been on fire like this in september. it's hard to see us play at this level for another month, and then the post season.

idk, i think we are playing up to our potential. aybar, calhoun, some of our pitchers in the bullpen / starters, are having career years. i gave up ever expecting pujols to go back to his regular form (he's still playing well, but not 200mil worth) and same with CJ and Hamilton. IMO, we over achieved this year, especially with our bullpen and some of our batters.

I don't think so. With Erny being shipped out for Grilli, and selling our farm soul for Street, our Pen is now the strength and has been for awhile. What has over-achieved is our starting rotation, esp w Skaggs going down. If you told me before the year that G-Rich would be one of the better pitchers in the AL, and a guy named Shoemaker be a legit ROY candidate, I woulda said we would be in first place. Everyone knows CJ sucks, hell even Hector has pitched decent of late.
When you have the best player in baseball surrounded by more than capable hitters with a good Pen and serviceable rotation, you should be in a race for first, which is exactly where we are.

ya but look at all the injuries we've had this year. especially early on when guys like cowgil, navaro, cron, green, they all stepped in and played great, that too me was overachieving. guys like shoemaker, richards, santiago, nobody expected this out of them. and it seems like it never matters who we threw out of the bullpen it was always 1,2,3 even with all these no name pitchers we've recently been using in the pen.

100% agreed. Glad Houston series is over, the only team we cannot beat. Too bad we play them again 2nd to last series...
