He will have his hands full this Saturday. I hope he gets his mental focus back. He had a bunch of things going on at that time. This time no excuses.

Legendary Mexican Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio Nacho Beristain is in the Hospital Medica Sur in Mexico City after serious health complications on Wednesday afternoon required him to be rushed to be seen by medical specialists. Beristain underwent surgery Thursday morning. He is under intensive observation but his condition is reportedly stable.

Richard Schaefer leaves Golden Boy promotions.

“After more than ten years with Golden Boy, it is time to move on to the next chapter of my career. This decision has required a great deal of personal reflection, but ultimately I concluded that I have no choice but to leave. I have succeeded in banking and I have succeeded in boxing, and I look forward to the next opportunity. I am proud to remain a shareholder, so I have a strong interest in the continued success of the company. I am proud of what we have accomplished at Golden Boy, but I now look forward to new challenges.”
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN that Golden Boy Promotions will no longer be co-promoting Floyd Mayweather’s megafights. Ellerbe later tweeted “There’s many moving pieces that play an integral part in the success of any event, but ‘your people are your most valuable resource.’” For the last seven years, all of Floyd’s fights had been presented under Golden Boy’s promoter’s license and with Golden Boy’s team primarily handling the logistics.

Interesting to see how it will all play out. Hopefully its all for the best for the sport.
