Threats and an incident of vandalism over the weekend at the Oxnard-based training camp of two-division world champion Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KOs), of Argentina, has forced the cancellation of Martinez's Media Day Workout, scheduled for Tuesday, August 28 in Ventura, Calif. Martinez is deep in training for his upcoming challenge of undefeated World Boxing Council (WBC) middleweight champion and Son of the Legend, Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (46-0-1, 32 KOs), of Mexico.
"This past weekend Sergio received threats from an unknown source and the car in front of his home was vandalized," said Lou DiBella, Martinez's promoter. "Unfortunately, until we have a security team in place, we are going to have to suspend any and all public and media appearances for Sergio, including the upcoming media day scheduled for tomorrow in Oxnard. We apologize for the inconvenience to the media and fans that have planned on attending tomorrow's event."

Martinez will have to fight the perfect fight. Lots of movement and staying off the ropes. Chavez has shown he can take a punch and his conditioning has improved. Whoe ever he stil gets hit a lot. Martinez will not catch him with one shot. He wil need to do two and three punch combos while avoiding Chavez's right and left hook to the body. Martinez needs to be mindfull of his position in the ring at all times and use his experience to tie up and frustrate the younger less experienced Chavez. Martinez will have to keep the ego in check because chavez will be easy to hit coming in. The problem is staying in the pocket too long against the stronger younger fighter. Chavez has the power advantage but it is not the one punch ko type. the shots he throws are like the ones his dad was known for. Heavy and thudding. Experience is all in martinez's favor but Chavez seems to be improving and has a lot of upside. With a good game plan, chavez can learn how to cut the ring off and be able to position himself to better land against Martinez.
This is a great fight.
This is a great fight.

According to a source, Juan Manuel Marquez and Zanfer Promotions have reached an initial agreement with Top Rank to fight Manny Pacquiao on November 10 in Las Vegas. Marquez met Monday in Mexico City with Zanfer and is said to have reached an agreement. Apparently there will be no rematch between Pacquiao and Bradley, as Pacman is eyeing Floyd Mayweather in 2013. Marquez, the current WBA lightweight super champion and WBO super lightweight champion has always fought Pacquiao tough with two controversial losses and a draw.
