Maiocco is basing the 30M in cap space off last years cap limit of $120.375M, I have it at $123.375M, which is why I have us at around 34.5=35M under.

I think the 16.87M could go either way. PFT may be right that its 16.87M, but Maiocco might be right, as Alex earned $6.5M($4M Base and $2.5M Incentives).

Also, we would have an additional 10M if we didnt re-do Willis' deal in october, which put the rest of his signing bonus, an extra 10M, into 2012.

2013 looks better, $85,505,342M committed for 44 players.

This our salaries for our players:

94 DE Justin Smith(2013)- $8,500,000
85 TE Vernon Davis(2015)- $8,438,666
21 RB Frank Gore(2014)- $5,605,000
59 C Jonathan Goodwin(2013)- $5,016,667
15 WR Michael Crabtree(2014)- $5,000,000
31 SS Donte Whitner(2013)- $4,583,333
91 DE Ray McDonald(2015)- $4,150,000
99 OLB Aldon Smith(2014)- $3,922,909
2 PK David Akers(2013)- $3,606,667
52 ILB Patrick Willis(2016)- $3,511,375
76 RT Anthony Davis(2014)- $3,166,666
98 OLB Parys Haralson(2013)- $2,870,000
74 LT Joe Staley(2017)- $2,795,000
77 LG Mike Iupati(2014)- $2,239,500
25 CB Tarell Brown(2013)- $1,805,750
75 OT Alex Boone(2015)- $1,340,000
7 QB Colin Kaepernick(2014)- $1,297,535
86 LS Brian Jennings(2014)- $1,161,000
53 ILB NaVorro Bowman(2013)- $805,562
29 CB Chris Culliver(2014)- $704,719
32 RB Kendall Hunter(2014)- $664,805
24 RB Anthony Dixon(2013)- $660,150
82 TE Nate Byham(2013)- $656,550
10 WR Kyle Williams(2013)- $649,850
67 OG Daniel Kilgore(2014)- $595,075
49 FB Bruce Miller(2014)- $570,613
78 OG Mike Person(2014)- $566,475
41 CB Curtis Holcomb(2014)- $566,475
96 DE Demarcus Dobbs(2013)- $555,000
93 NT Ian Williams(2013)- $555,000
3 QB Scott Tolzien(2013)- $555,000
83 WR John Matthews(2013)- $555,000
43 FS Colin Jones(2014)- $555,000
65 OT Kenny Wiggins(2013)- $480,000
57 OLB Michael Wilhoite(2013)- $480,000
61 C Chase Beeler(2013)- $480,000
9 WR Dontavia Bogan(2013)- $480,000
0 LS Kyle Nelson(2013)- $480,000
23 CB Cory Nelms(2013)- $480,000
13 WR Joe Hastings(2013)- $480,000
35 FS Mark LeGree(2013)- $480,000
71 OT Derek Hall(2013)- $480,000
0 OG Garrett Chisolm(2013)- $480,000
88 TE Konrad Reuland(2013)- $480,000

Now, the following could/should not be with this team.

Anthony Dixon- would save $630K
Kyle Williams- would save $630K
Nate Byham- would save $630K (Depends on how the regime feels about him)
John Matthews- would save $555K
Kenny Wiggins- would save $480K
Michael Wilhoite- would save $480K (Could be on PS)
Dontavia Bogan- would save $480K
Joe Hastings- would save $480K (Could be on PS)
Mark LeGree- would save $480K (Could be on PS)
Derek Hall- would save $480K (Could be on PS)
Garrett Chisolm- would save $480K
Konrad Reuland- would save $480K (Might make 2012 roster, depends on camp)

That would knock off $6.285M

Of course we dont know the new players/re-signees, but it looks good for 2013 cap wise.
Updated the list.

Crabtree has extra bonus money I didn't have included, when he got an advance in salary, it was pro-rated from 2010-2014, $1.359M a year.

Added preliminary Number for Spillman, just a base salary of $615K

Then added in the tenders(likely) for Brock($540K), Tukuafu($465K) and Grant($1.927M).

So, as of now, with a projected $123.375M cap, with an actual threshold of $135.975M(with the $12.6M carryover), I have us at $30.258M under.

Now this will lower once I hear the complete details on Spillman's contract extension.
So we have 30.258 mil in space PLUS the 16.7 in cap carryover?

I think we have around 37-40 mil in space BEFORE the Spillman and Brooks signings.

AB83Rules, are you Parrage wannabe? You making my head spin-haha. I thought after the signing of Brookes, I read an article somewhere that our current cap was at approx. 23 mill? What is it right now (plain english please-hehe). I ask cause we just franchised Goldson at what 6.2 mill? we still have Alex, Rodgers and Snyder to resign, not to mention the possibility of signing a FA wr. If it is 23 then after Goldson it is down to 17 mill?

I figure that the 23+ mill does not include us letting Spencer go which is about 3.3 mill. Also, Haralson, Parys OLB 2013 $2,755,580, Dixon, Anthony RB 2013 $575,730, Holcomb, Curtis CB 2014 $401,475, and Hastings, Joe WR 2013 $395,580 would give us another 4.126 mill of space if we needed it. Plus although we signed Pontbriand, Ryan LS/C 2012 $831,580, can't see keeping two LS/C in the end.

The thing is Maiocco's numbers dont add up. I have us at $21.567M under the cap, thats with a projected $123.375M cap. I have taken into consideration the following.

Brooks' 6yr extension, with a $2.85M cap figure
Spillman's 3yr extension with a $1.08M cap figure
Goldson's franchise tag of $6.2M
Brock's 1yr EFA tender of $540K
Tukuafu's 1yr EFA tender of $465K
Grant's projected 2nd-round RFA tender of $1.927M

The cap space will be between $19.567M and $23.567M depending on the cap limit(between $120M and $125M)

As for releases, I don't take into consideration Spencer or Haralson releases.

If we cut Spencer, we would actually save $2.91M due to him being replaced on the top 51 rule with a player making $390K. Same would go with Haralson, which would save $2.36M.

Haralson has 300K in offseason bonuses, and Spencer 100K in offseason bonuses, but they would come off the books due to not earning them.

That would increase our cap room by $5.27M.

I think the obvious re-signings are Blake Costanzo and Alex Smith, if we don't look into Manning.

Our top FAs to garner looks are,

Adam Snyder
Carlos Rogers
Ted Ginn Jr.
Joshua Morgan

One guy I like and i wouldn't mind back at 750K is Tavares Gooden. Even though his salary would say 750K, it would actualy be $540K due to verteran credit, that is for players making above the 4th year minimum and on 1yr deals signed.
AB, I am asking out of ignorance, nothing more: If Wallace was tendered and given a $2.75mil contract(which sounds incorrect as it appears way too low), we would have to give up a 1st rd pick for him, (number 30 in the first rd), does he then have the ability to negotiate with us if we offered more than $2.75, or does Pitts just up their offer?
I know you have explained this many times, but i am still uncertain as to the answer. May i ask you to re-explain for the mentally challenged? Thanks AB.
what are our cap figures looking like after the Rogers deal?

No problem. It is usually that you sign him to a offer sheet. Can be same as the tender, though they would match, unless the contract overall is outrageous, like Vincent Jackson's deal. Or they could negotiate with us and we can get Wallace for cheaper price for 2012 and overall, for the 30th pick, but might have to throw in another draft choice.

$16,123,524M under if Rogers has a $3M cap figure for 2012. We have plenty of room to sign Ginn, Snyder, Alex and another outside WR. Then when spencer is released his money will be used for the rookie class this year.
Thanks AB, but one last question.Does the player, in this case wallace, have any say in the matter as to yes or no, or can he say i won't go without "x dollars more"?

Also, I have floated the possibility of making the wallace deal tolerable by cutting and trading craps elsewhere for draft picks along with his top 5 salary,
of $5mil/yr and then using that money plus say an additional $4mil/yr from 9ers to make a run at Wallace. Does that sound goofy or do you think Coach and baalke would do something like that? After two yrs we would then be on the hook for the entire $9 mil/yr (or whatever), and hopefully would have drafted half a dozen good hands guys who can get open (ie they read the jerry rice book on how to play WR). At end of two yrs we could trade him or let him go then, assuming our drafted wrs are coached up. Your thots?

He has the say in the deal itself, contract wise. But when it comes to when signing the offer sheet, he has to hope if he wants out that pittsburgh will not match, if they do match, then he is a steeler for however long.

I dont know if Baalke, Harbaugh and the rest of the FO will go hard for Wallace. To get him it woukd take 8M-10M in 2012 to sign him for sure. Best bet is to sit down with Wallace, see if he is serious about signing here, but not to get a deal from Pittsburgh. Then if he is, we can go to Pittsburgh and try and work a deal out with them so we can do a sign and trade like deal. We could then give him a 5M salary in 2012, and then it goes up in 2013, 2014 and 2015. I imagine he will want 10M-12M a yr. If Vincent Jackson gets $56M over 5 years, a average of 11.2M, I dont see Wallace taking less.
AB, as usual , pretty sage thots. Thanks again I guess our best bet is having him get no $10 mil offers and he comes calling here, altho I am sure he knows our need. .
So, I tried to ask this in another thread but it got locked. How much to we really have to spend? If we have $18 mill available, and we don't have a starting QB or RG under contract (presumably), and we need a few mil at least for rookies, what do we have left? We have to assume, Alex or otherwise is at least $8-10 mil going to a QB, right? And a couple mil or more for a RG? At best, maybe that is $10 MIL total, maybe more. Should be at least a few mil if not maybe 4-5 mil or more for rooks right? Could be less, but could be as much or more? Best case, at least $12-14 mil between the three, quite possibly more. So how much (reasonably) do we have to spend on another WR and/or other FAs?

I have us closer to 17M under. Draft picks will only eat up around 3M for cap purposes in offseason. We can add Alex or Peyton, and then add a WR. I don't see us signing a FA RG. Too many talented ones in draft.
Any word on what the Manningham signing will count against the cap yet?
