That would put us at $31M under the 2015 cap of $140M.

So we have to decide on Aldon for 2015 before May? Can we still do a long contract next offseason?

Yes, we can extend him anytime now. Probably won't happen until 2015 though, but there is a slight chance it happens this offseason, not sure how it work cap wise.
So what are we at now with Boldin back? 7.2 mil?
His cap figure should be $3,727,500 for 2014, which leaves us with $9.472 million in cap space.
how do you fit an $18M QB salary in the cap? we don't want to end up like NO and Brees.

this last value doesn't count them potentially getting another 5 back from cutting rogers, does it?

Doesn't include $5.105 we would get from cutting Rogers.

What is his actual pay for both years...year by year?

Don't you think we would wait until June 1st to cut Rogers? If we don't plan to sign big free agents, and extend some of the smaller contract guys (Miller, Dawson), we could wait until June 1st to cut Rogers, avoid the cap hit, and then extend Kaepernick. Right?

They can easily structure the contract to keep the cap number from blowing up until 2015.

Technically, they don't have to wait until June 1st...they can do it sooner if they want since it's more of a designation. Per Maiocco:

If the 49ers chose to release Rogers with a post-June 1 designation, the 49ers would save $6.6 million on the salary cap but he would count about $1.5 million in dead money on the 2015 cap. If the 49ers took the entire cap hit this year, the immediate cap savings would be $5.1 million and he would be completely off their books in future years.

That's fair.
AB is it true you can't spend the cap savings of a post June 1st designation release until June?

The way it is, yeah I think so. Might of changed it though. Usually a post june 1 cut designation you dont see the money till then. Sucks, so I don't know if they will use it. Better to take the hit, and get the immediate cap room, and get a SS, CB and PK. If not, we will miss out on our own, and some 2nd tier FAs.
I was really hoping that wasn't true. Thanks

Apparently there are conflicting reports. Some are saying we get it immediately. I am so confused. I need to ask around.
