I think that has to do less with Alex and more with Norv being our coordinator that year. I liked Norv's play calling way more than what Martz has been calling so far. Norv's offense fit our personnel perfectly and we had a balanced yet explosive attack. Martz needs to stay balanced.

It doesn't matter. It is the usual Smith discussion and so is timeless.
One thing that is funny is that people wonder why he isn't more of a gunslinger like Romo or Farve. Well, a year later, JTO does have those qualities and lots of posters are trying to run him out of town. They want him to be careful, like A. Smith!
did u just say JTO is like Romo and Favre?
Bad comparison... but I'm sure he didn't mean talent wise. I think he was basing it on jus characteristics of a gungslinger.
Yes, thank you for clarifying my post. He has the mind-set only at this point.

lol. Indeed. JTO has double-personality disorder. Thinks he's Brett Favre -- Plays like Rex Grossman. Seriously...

Probably had alot to do with the fact that that was his first year as a our starter and teams had no idea what type of a player he was.

What are you talking about?!?!
Alex Smith was clearly SCARING teams so much that they didn't even care about Gore. Hell, defenses were only rushing 3 linemen and throwing 8 guys into coverage on EVERY down knowing that if they didn't, Smith was going to TORCH them with his stellar accuracy. Alex Smith was seriously one of the Top 3 QBs in the NFL in '06. Without him, we win 1, not 7. Frank Who?!

LMAO. Giving Alex Smith credit for Frank Gore's 2006 season.
Larry Allen and Jonas Jennings is why Frank Gore dominated in 2006.
Joe Staley has been a huge disappointment.

Tim Couch and Ryan Leaf have to be ecstatic at the recent arrival of both JaMarcus Russell and Alex Smith, who are on their way to make the aforemention forgotten as the two new kings of "biggest busts of the NFL", a crown they gladly pass.. While cringing with JTO at the helm and watching him continually hanging in too long to always wait for a receiver to break open, Alex in the same situation would have been nearly to the sidelined already running from pressure (and often perceived pressure that didn't exist). I just think some here cannot stomach the idea that we blew the highest pick in Niner history and would rather live on fantasy island.
