Harbaugh or Shanahan

Best thing Harbs could've done would have been To try to bring Kyle in as playcaller when he was available in '14. Could have perhaps salvaged Kap.

Hmmm lets see a proven winner or a 6-10 HC and super bowl choker OC. Real hard choice.

Both choked on Super Bowls, both are proven winners

At least Kyle was up 3 scores before choking, instead of down 3 scores before choking

And Kyle never put that blemish on our pristine SB Record

If Freeman makes a block, they win.

If the defense makes one stop, whether on a 2-point conversion or a drive, they win.

If the OL doesn't hold when they made their way back into FG range, they win.

Heck if the Falcons don't sustain so many injuries on defense, they win.

But no it's all Shanahan's fault! It's his fault Matt Ryan took that one sack and didn't even attempt a pass!

It's surreal that people try to take the whole blame and dump it all on Shanahan and demand that we should have hired Cable instead.

The one guy that was frustrated was Bowman and he was bounced. I think he would of a had a much more difficult time with a mature roster.

How come Joe Staley never got upset?

Rubbish...Harbaugh might not have an offense as complicated as Kyle, but he knows how to prepare a football team and knows how to design a winning game plan. After all, Harbaugh beat Kyle in the playoffs when KS had a completely loaded offense.

Not in the same galaxy......even pre Jimmy, Kyle's offense was putting up yardage totals and effeciency numbers on par with what Harbs was doing except for the 10 games Kap had in the '12 run.

Give Kyle Alex or Kap, Gore, VD, Crabs and an OL with 4 first rounders on it and his offensive numbers would have dwarfed Harbs.

There is more to football than being an offensive coordinator. It's about coaching the whole team and most importantly, winning. In the only category that matter KS is t even in the same universe as Harbs. If Harbs had Jimmy, there is a good chance we would have 3 more Super Bowls. KS and team where on a complete downward spiral until they lucked into the JG Trade.

It's still too early.
Shanahan was the guy I wanted here for the past 2-3 seasons. Like Niners816, I'm a huge fan of the WCO and all the variations that have come over the years (Walsh, Mike Shanahan, Holmgren, etc)

I was thrilled when it became apparent we had landed Kyle. Obviously people will remember the super bowl choke, but seeing what he did vs Seattle, Green Bay, and then 2 1/2 quarters in the SB, I felt the time was just right for him to transition into a HC role.

I loved what Harbaugh was able to do as far as changing the culture and producing a winning team. However, we never had a flow offensively outside of the 2nd half of the 2012 season. It felt clunky, archaic and just downright inefficient. By 2013 and 2014, I was tired of the dunderhead Bo Schembechler offense he insisted on running. He had been figured out by NFL coaches and furthermore, he couldn't win the big game. He still hasn't, even at Michigan (Ohio state). I hope he comes back to the NFL eventually and corrects his flaws, but I couldn't be happier having Kyle Shanahan as our guy.

Maybe, but 49ers didn't lose the SB this year. So we're good

Top 5 roster vs expansion team level roster......Boy, I wonder why Harbs won more.

Staley is the quite type and doesn't get involved in controversy. That's kind of true of lineman in general. It's a noble trait, but most NFL players Aren't like that, especially the stars.

Once the roster was dwindling, so did harbaugh in 2014 and coaching ended being a liability
Harbaugh got us to 3 NFC Championships and one Super Bowl in his 4 years. If Ted Ginn didn't go down before the Giants game in 2011 we go to the SB. In the SB against the Ravens, that game was ours but we didn't catch one break. Finally, 2013 against the Seahawks, Kaep throws another one away. So if we make one play in each game we could be talking 3 peat. However, those Harbaugh teams had no luck on the big stage. Shanahan has a ways to go but he has the most important piece in place with Jimmy G, should be a great ride for Niner fans.

Um.....when did harbs beat Kyle in the playoffs?....

We beat NO in 2011
GB and ATL in 2012
GB and CAR in 2013

Kyle didn't end up in ATL until 2015
In 14 he was with the Browns and 10-13 the Redskins

The what if game is pretty dumb.

We lost five games in a row early in the season by a field goal or less. If this happens and that happens and we have Jimmy G from the start of the season, we're in the playoffs this year!
