Ok let's not get ahead of ourselves now. Beathard is not the future of this franchise and he still is a career backup. Just cause we beat the Giants doesn't mean this guy is the second coming lol. This guy will go back to scoring only 10 points and people are gonna ask for jimmy again. Jimmy is the guy not Beathard.
Isn't it way too early to make that call?
I think Beathard could be a good starter in this league.
What makes you think that? Not way too early to make the call Garoppolo is the better an and the future. Nothing shows me that Beathard is gonna be anything. Dude couldn't even score more than 10 points before yesterday and he had everything Hoyer had before all the injuries.
What makes you think Garoppolo can be good in this league? Tell me what he has proven.
Beathard is a rookie learning a system on the least talented team in the NFL, Hoyer is a 9 year pro with over a year in Shanahan's system. I think Beathard compared well to Hoyer.
It is too soon to write off Beathard.
The fact Jimmy Garoppolo has won games against a. Playoff caliber defense in the cards when he played and was beating Miami until he got injured. I haven't seen Beathard throw three first half tds against anybody. And Garoppolo made those tds with ball placement and not by throwing to wide open receivers. And Beathard didn't compare to Hoyer. At least Hoyer kept us in games. We didn't start to get blown out until bethard took over. And Beathard took over with the same situation his first couple starts so what do you mean?
Hoyer:
74.1 rating
207.5 YPG passing
4 TD, 4 INT passing
1 TD, 3 fumbles rushing
Beathard:
70.8 rating
204.8 yards per game passing
4 TD, 5 INT passing
3 TDs, 2 fumbles rushing
7 TDs to 5 TDs in two less starts, similar ratings, similar yards per game.
Beathard > Hoyer despite Hoyer's 9 years in the NFL and previous experience running Shanahan's offense.
Well if you're going to say that then:
Hoyer: 17.8 points per game, 89 points total
Beathard: 10.25 points per game, 41 points total
Clearly the offense was running better with Hoyer than with Beathard regardless of how many tds both scored. I didn't include the redskins game cause they both split it.
Yeah Hoyer has ONE more game started but that doesn't make that much of a difference.
And if you really wanna get technical:
Hoyer: -31 point differential
Beathard: -73 point differential
I am comparing quarterback play with measurables under control of the qb.
Hoywr has six starts, Beathard has 4, two less than Hoyer.
That makes no sense. The operation of the offense is under the control of the Qb. The qb has to operate the offense in order to score points. Even though Hoyer started the redskins game he got replaced and didn't finish so his stats could've improved or went down. Plus you included the tds Beathard scored in the redskins game so if you wanna go by starts remove those tds from his total.
Or if you want compare Boyer's first 4 starts with Beathard first 4 starts. Either way it's clear Hoyer was running the offense better.
The coach calls the plays.
The personnel is also not the same, the team was healthier with Hoyer.
Why do you completely disregard yards per game, passer rating and TDs to turnovers?
My initial point was that they were close despite Hoyer being a 9 year pro with over a year experience in Shanahan's system but after looking at the stats I think Beathard has been better.
Why did you ask me ignore Beathard TD from the Redskins game?
They weren't close though. We were actually in close games with Hoyer and with Beathard we were getting blown out. Just look at the scores. As far as your yards per game you can throw for whatever you want but if your team isn't scoring it means nothing. I ask you to disregard the redskins game because Beathard didn't start so you can't include that in games started. As far as turnovers Beathard actually had more interceptions and fumbles in less "games started" than Hoyer did so there that goes.
By the way Beathard had the same personnel as Hoyer did because Garcon and Staley were still in the lineup when he took over starting duties and he got blown out those games soooooo...
The only resin tournament probably thinking Beathard was better is because of that win. But before that the guy couldn't even score more than 10 points in a game all the while getting beaten and not being in close games at all.
