I read an article the other day that KD Cannon was let go because of BJ Johnson. I had high hopes that Cannon would be decent for us at least in training camp but after looking at BJ Johnson, I could see why they consider him better value. Just curious of the forms opinions on him.

That's a solid mesh if we're talking the ceiling of a #6 WR.

Agree, and undrafted at that. From all the descriptions of this guy (I've never seen him play) he seems like a Dwight Clark to me. I'm pulling for him, but DeAndre may have a similar skill set, may be faster, and bigger too. We shall see.

I'm pulling for Smelter more right now. Shanny and the boys teaching him the route tree legitimately for the first time... But I'm liking everything I've heard about BJ and he's in a similar position as Smelter due to his college being a run first team. Lucky for BJ as a rookie he enters a great system.

If it's close, I think Smelter goes.
Was from Balkke and the new bosses seem to be pushing the young-ins pretty hard.
Sounded like Kittle got most 1st string reps over VAnce. ( which doesn't surprise me)

It would probably make sense to go with BJ since he's younger, they might like Deandres size, hands and believe overall speed compared to BJ.

In terms of youth, they both are pretty young, so I think age isn't really a factor here. More towards who's a better player mentally, physically and attitude-wise.
If it's me, I go for bigger and faster. But that slot receiver in the WCO takes a beating and the more depth we have there the better. I am really looking forward to seeing Kittle in pre-season. Looks like Vance is fading.

I like Smelter. Great size, big hands..
If they both look good, be nice to keep both but i don't know who's gonna win the numbers game. Will we keep more defense then offense, and which group on each.
I'd love to keep a bunch of our Front 7 defense guys and rotate the s**t out of them like Seattle did which seemed to keep a lot of them fresh, and heathy thru those winning years.
After they paid that defense and Wussle, they can't afford quality depth for rotation.

+Uno. Gonna be interesting how we roll on offense to possibly sacrifice to have better overall talent and depth on D.
