Ha, I had just added Cannon this morning. Oops. Redone.
This shows you how much this roster will be in flux. KD Cannon, an UDFA who everyone was touting has already been cut.
This reminds of when Pete Carroll first took over Seattle. At first, it was a revolving door where guys would come in and out quickly. He was shedding folks that didn't fit the system or buy in. They ended up with mostly draft choices and free agents that they wanted, not the previous regime.

* Im tempted to go with 3 RB's and have Breida on the PS to free up a spot
* Would love to see Lynch step up, we shall see, Need a spot for Taumoepenu as well
* Need to find a spot for Colbert too, maybe Reaser's spot
* I'd like to carry one more WR, cant find a spot right now, NFL needs to make roster 55 players! I edited this thing about 30 times

Very nice job. I think eventually it will be another WR added at the expense of probably a DB like Reaser. Then you can possibly compensate some CB depth by replacing Jerome with Colbert who can play CB/S/ST. My number one thing I do is replace Coyle with Lynch. Ray-Ray can backup MLB&WILL. Other than that it's pretty much set unless a trade or two occur.

Bingo, was thinking the same thing all off-season. When you're bad, you have to overhaul the roster and bring in guys who fit the new regime. I imagine theres still going to be a ton of transactions.
How much of a signing bonus did we give Cannon? 50,000?

NCommand... I think this assessment is very close. The only issue I would have with it would be the PS. I just don't think that guys like Bolden and Hijutini get through waivers. They were highly coveted FAs.
A question....you have Dakota Watson making the team. Can you explain your reasoning?
I'm sure you would agree that there will be some surprising cuts this fall as well. Overall though, this is very close.

Cheers!

Great timing...I had JUST updated it too. LOL

Yeah, unfortunately, losing UDFA's or risking players moving them to the PS is a reality. We've lost quite a few players over the years that way. One thing they could do with Hikutini is stash him on I.R. since he's still recovering from injury. But we're going to lose some quality UDFA's...but remember, a team would need to add them to their own 53. So there is also a good chance every one stays with us too given all of these 10 players need development.

Dekoda was Robert Saleh's first pick up. He knows his game and loves his leadership and he can help teach this defense to the youngsters. Here is what he thinks of Dakota (basically, he sees him as a nickel/dime edge rusher from both the SAM and LEO and he can also play some ST's on coverage units):

Who else do you see at that particular spot, the LEO spot?

"We're looking for, there's a lot of pieces. Ahmad can do it, Eli can do it, so you're looking at the SAM/LEO type deal. They're all capable. Dekoda can do it. Even Arik, he's not a prototype, but he's capable just from his flexibility and his--."

...So when looking at the SAM linebacker and what they're asked to do on a day-to-day basis, 70-percent of the game their hand will be in the ground. So, we're looking for more of an edge rusher as opposed to what it was in years past with a brut SAM linebacker, a [former NFL LB] Bill Romanowski-type. We're trying to move forward from that."

Are there guys (SAM/LEO edge rushers) already on the roster?

"Oh, yeah. There's plenty here. [LB] Ahmad Brooks, [LB] Eli [Harold]. We just signed [LB] Dekoda Watson. If you were going to paint a picture, that's what they would look like."

Here's some more about him:
Thanks NCommand.... I really appreciate your detailed response.

Cheers!

He got a $5K signing bonus, and a $45K Base guarantee, which we'll be on the hook for, since it's doubtful a team will claim him.

My early projection:

QB: 2 Brian Hoyer(2018)/ 7 Matt Barkley(2018)/ 3 C.J. Beathard(2020)

PK: 9 Robbie Gould(2018)
P: 5 Bradley Pinion(2018)
LS: 86 Kyle Nelson(2018)

My 7 Inactives: QB Beathard, OG Fusco, DE Taumoepenu, NT Jones, OLB Harold, FS Jerome the 7th is tough, could be Taylor, or Carradine.

NFI:

TE 46 Cole Hikutini(2019) - Stash player for 2018 when we can unload Vance McDonald and his contract

10-Man Practice Squad:

QB 1 Nick Mullens
RB 49 Matt Breida
WR 83 Victor Bolden
OG 60 John Flynn
OT 62 Erik Magnuson
OT 71 John Theus
DE 64 Noble Nwachukwu
OLB 60 Jimmie Gilbert
CB/FS 47 Adrian Colbert
SS 46 Malik Golden

Hardest for me to decide is a 6th WR or just 5, a 4th RB or just 3, Lorenzo Jerome or Adrian Colbert(I have Jones as a lock he has $750K GTD in his deal, I don't see him being cut, we save like $365K if that), How many OL, a 9th or just 8. Aaron Lynch vs Pita Taumoepenu

Key Cuts:

RB Kapri Bibbs, Raheem Mostert
FB Tyler McCloskey
WR Aaron Burbridge, DeAndre Carter, Rashad Ross, DeAndre Smelter, Kendrick Bourne
TE Garrett Celek, Blake Bell
DL Chris Jones, Aaron Lynch
C Bret Treadway, Tim Barnes
OG Evan Goodman
OT Norman Price, Darrell Williams Jr.
OLB Donavin Newsom
CB Zach Franklin, Prince Charles Iworah, Keith Reaser(Traded for a 7th)

I was going to post mine but you pretty much nailed my exact prediction. Only difference would be that I think Armstrong may not make it, coming off that injury last year and it would seem excessive to keep 8 LBs when running a 4-3, which Armstrong seemed to struggle in previously. Watson and Coyle both are already good STs guy so we'll see. But I'm thinkin Breida or Bolden take that last spot.

Not sure where to post this, but the release of KD Canon made me wonder how is a guy cut from the 90? On what do they base letting a guy go? Since this was early, is it a guy with a bad attitude, or a guy who is nicked up but never revealed it, or a guy who is way slower than his combine times, or a guy who just can't follow instructions? Anyone know just exactly how a guy gets cut early on? Later I know it is based on talent at a particular slot. OT, or CB for example. But now wiht 90 guys on the field, how do they go about cutting these guys, many of whom are UDFAs, or walk-ons, or guys here for the one day tryout? Canon was a surprise, so is there a way to get yourself cut early on, or is it overt lack of talent even at this early stage? The fact tryouts are only a week into it, made me wonder about attitude, or perhaps injury. Anybody know?

I'm guessing it was his mouth, work ethic, and attitude.
