Wow...14 rookies make the team. I listened to several podcasts today and that was a hot topic...so much so, I had to check my own 53. They were right (as of today).

I like this NC. But personally I'd cut Barnes and Dial and replace with Bourne and Redmond

Seven receivers? Adding a FB position might make that a luxury...unless they are also STs demons.

Yeah I know. Fine, I drop Kerleys a55 for Bourne. Taylor, Robinson and Bolden can easily replace him in the slot. Barnes for Redmond

Wtf.. Drop Kerley. Somebody bust out the baby powder.

Barnes - Garnett has health issues

Dial - Buckner has health issues

Kerley - one of the only bright spots last season and seems a great fit for this scheme

Not quite sure if we really want to be thin anywhere at the Line in a rebuild year. Offense is not the priority imo just yet.

I think Dial is a good depth player... Or not bad, but DJ Jones/Chris Jones and Blair are in the mix. Can always put Thomas at 3T or AA.

DL gonna be interesting to watch unfold and see who we have going into week1.

Lol. When people jumped the gun like we had to make a 53 spot for Chanceller. A DL doe? Is he a pure pass rusher? Like we brought in a OL.
Guess Chris Chester isnt coming out of retirement. Thought there might be a shot.

Seems like theyre not making any desperate moves so im thinking Garnett will be okay by week 2/3.

This should be the time of preseason when a weak team cuts marginal players to bring in players with more potential, cut those if they don't work out and bring in some more players with potential. No surprise to it...just normal due process trying to find diamonds in the rough.

Honestly i wasnt impressed by James really... Maybe a year to get jacked in his upper body and learning the D will be a blessing for him in the long run.

He was well down the depth chart and not likely to climb. Makes sense to subtract and add someone who might be able to help the team. It's early to give up on someone but the coaches see these guys every day and aren't making rash choices...I hope!

He tore his ACL. Waived/injured, not because he wasn't going to make the team. He's going to IR, and I'm sure will be back in the mix next off-season.

some good players will miss out. This will be a real test to see how Lynch/Shanahan find their building blocks for the D. Or should I say Bricks!

I wanna stash DJ on an IR special with the ability to be able to return round mid season and see where things are at. Right now im cutting Chris Jones. So technically that would be minus two going into week one. Chance Dial could get dealt cause of others doe.

Anyone want Acker back Kidding.

We should trade Hyde like Johnson traded Hershal Walker.

Yeah, a couple notes...Tim Barnes is our backup C now that Zuttah is gone. He's been taking exclusive snaps there and played well there in our last pre season game.

I love Redmond's skill set but right now, he's backing up Williams and hasn't played outside. If Williams goes down, both Reaser (can play outside and inside) and Ward could potentially play there. Colbert is a fast gunner who's trying out at FS (2 INT's) and can play CB.

Jones looked terrible at 3T and Dial is much more stout and can play big end and NT and 3T if we're in short yardage.

No way we cut Kerley. He's a 3rd down auto machine. Kyle will find ways to get he and Taylor the ball and sometimes, on the field together at the same time.

If we go with a 6th WR, and it's a big if, the last spot will be a specialist and active on game days: Smelter (size in the RZ, run blocking), Bourne (decent size and smooth route running) or Bolden (fly sweeps, go routes and returner).

I think Bolden is slightly ahead but keep in mind, Smelter started last game, Bourne played well but dropped a couple and Bolden wasn't used in the passing game but looked good on returns.

Doubt James will take up an IR spot unless the 9ers remain remarkably healthy. As they waived him he can sign anywhere or teams may wait until next off season to sign him. I believe he received his salary for this season with no outlying contract obligation by the team. I'm a bit fuzzy on how many players can be on IR though. Looked it up but none of the sites I visited had a firm number other than 90 counting PS, etc. Any sites you can recommend?

I could see the niners trading for a safety or signing a waived safety for the coming season.

Unlimited unless we did an injury settlement with him.

Injured Reserve: 2016 = 22 --- 2015 = 17 --- 2014 = 21

Unlimited? Every team could have 250 or more players on IR?

Sure... hence why when we had a stacked roster and a truckload of later picks, Baalke kept picking players to put on I.R. to add to the talent pool for the next year...or players he wanted to keep would get an ingrown toe nail the day before cuts and magically go in I.R.

LOL! Well, I think the niners are past that mindset.
