Here's how Vegas and analyst odds work:

Was the team good last year?

Yes? Then they'll be good again next year.

No? Then they'll be bad again next year.

Of course there's exceptions. Everybody predicted the Raiders to be good last season despite being bad for many years. Everybody predicted the Minnesota Timberwolves to be good this season despite never accomplishing anything.
Everybody predicted us to be bad in 2015 because all our great players retired.

Generally speaking, though, the flow chart above applies.

Idk. I was optimistic when they hired Chip last year and predicted 6 wins. Was so off the mark, it wasn't even funny.

Now.....I'll still predict 6 wins, but I definitely wouldn't put money on it, lol.

This is me exactly.
The one thing I worry about Hoyer... besides him being Hoyer... is although he has put up some #s (And INTs) with other teams. And looked ok with Kyle.

how would he do in the NFC West?

We know that Pete and the Seahawks are still bitter about getting blown out by Kyle and the Falcons.

So Pete will do what ever he can to study and try to shut down Kyle's offense. And this offense will not be with all those playmakers in Atlanta.

Althougth I think we will have a good offense with all these new weapons and speed...I still worry about the QB position.

Will Hoyer stay healthy? Can he handle the NFC West defenses. If Barkley has to come in (he's been horrible with the Bears) how would he do in our division?

I think that is where they get that 4-5 win scenario.

I REALLY think our defense will be GREAT!... not just good but be one of the top defenses in the league. If everyone stays healthy and Salah doesn't get cute with the players.

It's unfortunate we couldn't get a good QB. I think with all the new weapons, we would've made the playoffs..and from there you never know.

I am still confused why we let Tiller go. Could we NOT get him to lose weight to fit Shanny's offense? Still worried about Garnett's ability to pass block.

Vegas is pretty optimistic
Paso...rather insulting, isn't it. Our defense alone is going to keep us in games...and at some point they could well be dominant. Lynch/Shanahan have done a great job of acquiring talent. I'm most excited about our front line...with the additions of Thomas and DJ Jones, Saleh has a stout group that's big, in some cases fast and very versatile. Our LB corps will be fast and furious. Our secondary's definitely decent, and will benefit from a strong front 7. Shanahan's added quite a bit of speed to both the WR and RB corps. I'm not necessarily expecting an explosive offense...but they should be improved, no doubt. Come on LV, do your homework, and if you do you'll adjust your line.

Adding some ok free agents and one draft isn't changing that too much.

We don't really have much starting material at many positions.

Just out of curiosity, where do you think we do not have starting material..aside from the obvious, QB and #1WR?

I am surprised to think you don't believe an awfully big number of those holes were filled.

Well QB is a big one. As you mention the WR position is very weak.

Also our Oline is still sketchy and soft in the middle. Tight ends are weak. As for DB we don't have a guy i can confidently say is our number one shutdown.
Safties are also weak. We don't have a pass rush specialist either.

They were filled but filled with hope. Lynch is new so hopefully he actually did fill the holes with players. But until then its just wishful thinking. Which at this point is cool.

We have a lot of work to do. 4 wins is about right.

That's fair. Keep in mind, we has some dumb luck wins (Chicago) and inexplicate wins (Minnesota ) that year. 4-5 wins is fair. I see a competitive 5-11 team with our squad that will flash brilliance at times, but no real consistency because we still are lacking in talent and are learning a new system.
I think 5 to 7 wins.

I am not a betting man but how do I get my money down on this turkey?

First question is why? Next is, did they by chance see the draft...and read reports that 9 of those 10 are expected to make the team?

Follow up is did they miss the firing of tomsul? How about Chip? Did they happen to notice our HC was the top OC in the league?

Did they note our struggling QB has "moved on" ? True we do have a journeyman QB as well as a journeyman backup. But Hoyer has played for Kyle before. Is THAT what the 4 1/2 Ws is about? Is the D that gave up the most yrds last yr, still the same? Did they note that we now have AA, Buck and Solomon all on the same DL? By chance did they pick up on Foster being drafted by us late in rd 1? And we signed a tall potential starting press corner in Witherspoon?

Have they noted that by start of season literally 50% or more of the team will have turned over? Did they note we have NOBODY on IR or injured as opposed to ending the season with 17 guys on IR...our average for the last 3 yrs? Are they aware that our strength on D has been the DBs, and that we just improved them? Are they aware the team that tomsul somehow limped to the finish line with 5 Ws, couldn't hold a candle to the talent on this team?

If this is all based on QB, then they have made a huge miscalculation. With Kyle, it isn't the Qb, it is his coaching of the QB and his playcalling that makes the difference. I don't expect Hoyer to be great, but i sure expect him to carry out Kyle's plays. And that in and of itself is worth a handful of Ws. IF this 4.5 Ws is in part based on no #1 WR, ok, fair point. No FR QB, no #1 WR. But what they somehow missed is that in one FA/Draft, is that the literally dozens of holes that were there ...have now been patched? Maybe it is just too much of a leap to see that 2-14 team as anything else than what we were last yr. But not even close inspection will show them we aren't even close to that smelly pile of garbage that finished with 14 Ls.

Did Vegas happen to notice that finallly, Jed has taken himself out of the picture, and turned this over to the pros? Did they catch the twin 6 yr contracts of both GM And HC?

This team looks no more like that tomsul 5 W team than it looks like a giant maggot. This team with no TC looks faster , bigger, better, meaner than any team we have fielded in 4 yrs. And it sure doesn't look like that 2 W team of Chip's.

I can only assume bets will be so outlandishly against 4.5 Ws that the Ws will have to be jacked up. If not, bet away.
Do we have a FQB or at least a rock-solid one? No, we don't. Do we have a good WR corps. Not really, in despite of the addition of Garcon and Goodwin. On top of that, Shanahan's system seems to be a difficult one, thus we need at least a year to implement it (ask the Falcons if you don't believe it).
On the opposite side of the ball we got a lot of rookies and a new system. Nobody knows how quick the guys will adapt this system.
Sounds about right to me.

Can I go to a website and place this bet? Lol
New coaches and probably mostly new players. They are guessing. It's not going to be last year's team. I have no idea how they are going to do. Having said that, I think that it's going to be a gritty team. It will be fun.
Yes, Its going to take awhile with new coaches, players and new systems on both side of the ball. Its gonna be a learning year who fits where and how fast they grasp the new system and create chemistry together. I'm expecting them to have a slow start and hopefully start picking it up by halfway thru the season hopefully. I think we got a nice foundation of players, but its going to take time. 4-5 wins for me too
I'm taking the over....
