He is going to have a chance to compete for playing time that is for sure. I think him and Eli Harold might be battling it out for a key roster spot.

How nice would it be if this guy panned out

It would save us a draft pick at the LB and LEO side. I was ready for ShanaLynch to draft two raw edge rushers in the draft to bolster that weak pass rush that we have, but yeah, if he does pan out, you can use that draft pick for another position - DB or OL.

If the 49ers think he's really improved to the point he can be a starter, they might not double dip on the edge rusher and go instead with Linebacker to add depth and deal with Reuben's possible suspension issues. I'm all for using the extra draft pick on LB or OL!

ASking out of ignorance, what is the time frame for a guy like Pita.? Is this yr do or die for him or is he on the 3yr plan to bring along....how exactly does this work, not being a high draft pick. Obviously they liked something. When do they get tired of looking and wanting some production?

Has to be a 3 year plan. He is super raw. I expect this year he will play in situational roles and in special teams. I also believe he might play some Sam or take over as Sam if he excels there.

Thx , digger. Would it ever be rich if we go into draft with no starting LB and come out with 3 starters, a couple of whiich bring the heat on QBs. That's too much to ask for, but we know we will see some nice talent there. Landry is key to all this, and if gone ,there is OBO, Davenport, Nowuso and put all those together with Attacchou, we could end up with a bang up front 7. At least i hope.
