sounds like we're signing a bunch of guys that "know the scheme". Who cares about talent.

We've improved our ST coverage with Watson, Coyle, and Jones.
ST boost and can play in a pinch., has a SB ring too. Hmmm, team needs some leadership and this guy is an acquisition of same said team- Hmmm, looks like 49er Management is no longer clueless.. Great moves for all 3 players

Not only do they bring system/scheme knowledge (paramount in a transitional process), but they bring SB level talent from being on SB teams.. Good depth, leadership, and ST move!

Reviewing this guy today. This may turn out to be a heck of a move. We signed him to a 3-year contract for a reason. Great leader, intense, violent on the field and most importantly, an edge rusher.

Based on what Saleh said, it sounds like we'll roll with a guy like Eli Harold at SAM for base run downs (30%) but will sub in an edge rusher like Dekota Watson (70%). If Harold can prove to be the better edge rusher and stay stout against the run, he could play almost every down...if not, Dekota is about to get some significant pass rush opportunities off the edge from the SAM. Hell, given our current personnel, he could end up being our premier pass rusher which would mean he'd be rushing from the Elephant (longer shot here).
All 4 years of college and as a LB, racked up 32.5 TFL and 11.5 sacks. Being able to focus on just edge rushing now, I'm curious to see how this pans out.

SAM and DE competition. I wonder how he compares to SAMs coming out this year.

I wouldn't compare him to traditional SAM's coming out, but rather edge rushers b/c that's what he's going to be doing; probably, every snap.
So as a LB, he racked up 32.5 TFL and 11.5 sacks in 4 years
Myles Garrett, as a true ER/DE, racked up 47 TFL and 31 sacks in 3 years

Obviously not good but he was more of a Lb in college right. I wonder how he compares as far as measureables but he looked like a pure LB out of college.

Correct, different positions, different assignments and obviously, Garrett is pretty special in his explosion off the LOS, pass rush moves, ability to bend, balance, etc. He'd be our Elephant from day 1. But we need ER's on the other side too. Looking at his highlights, I can now see why they signed him. He might already be the better ER than Brooks, Harold and Lynch as he's a bit more athletic on the edges and certainly has more explosion at the LOS to get around the edge...not elite like Saleh noted of Derek Barnett, but pretty darn good.

If at his best, he can become anything close to a Dan Skuta 2.0 then I'll be satisfied.

That might end up being exactly what he is...from the left side though.

He had a couple of decent pass rushes against KC. I haven't noticed anything since.
