Another OL worth taking a long look at is Utah's Garret Bolles...dude's very athletic and could well be a guy Shanahan would like to have. He could start out being our swing OT and eventually take over either of the T spots. He's rising up draft boards & a lot of mocks...could be a mid-1st round pick. Agree on Lamp...he's an outstanding interior OL. It won't surprise me at all if Shanny asks Lynch to draft a couple of good OL. If they don't sign a FA DL...like Poe, Hankins or Logan, I'd love to see them draft DL Adams. Mitchell could help his integration into the NFL. Together, they'd be an imposing interior of our DL...something we just didn't have last year.

I just hope Lynch don't get focused on good toe shoe guys. I mean you are going to need a bad guy every now and then. Lagerrette Blount got caught with weed and punch a guy in Oregon, but was beneficial to the patriots. Aqib Talib shot himself in the leg but is a damn good corner. Le'veon Bell failed drug test but he's a helluva running back.

Shanny: "We will do things the right way with the right guys"
That alone tells me they wont pick players with questionable character. We dont need more drama after the Aldon Smith, Ray McDonald, and Bruce Miller debacles.

Yeah, but each of those guys joined established teams that had won a recent Super Bowl.
This team needs an identity. A character. Then we can take some chances.

With these signings, do we actually think we gotten better? The new coach should turn things around but what's the realistic goal this upcoming season?
I say a max of 5 wins

I'd say that's the low end of the spectrum. I think 8-8 is entirely possible. Some exciting moments, but not enough to get to the playoffs.

That's why we are not seeing the Pats make a big deal of losing such players like Bennett and Long......they are replaceable and have fulfilled their purpose
Smart post!

I'd can't wait to see a competitive and competent team on the field...that being said we better be prepared to draft a QB next year (move up if need be) invade Cousins doesn't come over.

We need to just wait until next year and sign Cousins out right, and not have to give up any assets this year, when we're not going to make the playoffs. I'd much rather keep all of our draft capital and be able to move up and down as much as we need to, to be able to get guys that we target. Also rolling with Hoyer and company at QB, probably insures that we have a lesser record, which would net us a higher draft pick next year to help improve our roster.
Signing Cousins next off season will only cost $$$, and it would allow us to pretty much get the kinks worked out this year on O, so that Cousins knows what he's walking into. It also allows Hoyer a chance to be a starting QB, and who knows, if he does good, we might just keep him and ignore Cousins, or we could sign Cousins, and trade Hoyer if a team is in need of him, or just have Hoyer back up Cousins. Lots of options, but it starts with us keeping our picks this year to improve our roster. It also allows us another year to have Cousins progress, but if he regresses, then the story and $$$ changes a little.

If you are paying attention to the length of the contracts then you can see what positions we will be drafting. Its not sure fire but pretty close to it.

Going after Cooks isn't a big deal?
Every player is replaceable. The only reason NE is attractive to those types of impact vets is the chance to win a ring. Its not because they choose to sign them. Its because the players choose to go there.
Not many if any teams have that luxury!

Better fit for the new system than Jonathan Allen. If the Niners stand pat at #2, he's the pick.
