Biggest mistake was not drafting better at RB in '95 (Terrell Davis!) and trying to ride out Young and Rice all season, with only Derek Loville and Adam Walker in the backfield (after Floyd got hurt). IIRC they went the washed-up FA route for RB in '95 (Ricky Ervins) but cut him
Kirby was a stopgap in '96 and Hearst finally came in '97, but then Young and Rice got hurt first game, with Jerry all but gone the rest of the year (TO and JJ at least developed)
