Thank you, Tom, but this franchise needed a completely clean slate.

And the beat goes on!
HELL of a player!
Solid coach who will not have any trouble landing some place.
Taking a year off never hurt anyone.

Tom Rathman has always been my favorite 49er. His last name has been security question answers for me, passwords, screen names, etc. This may sound stupid, but as an early teenager, I was out at Candlestick for a game. During warm-ups (he was coaching at the time), my brother, father and I were watching. Rathman came into the stands, walked right passed us and went up to the concessions level. I ran up to see him more. He walked into the public bathroom. I hesitated because I didn't want to be creepy. After a minute or two I walked in and there he was at the sink washing his hands. I went over to the sink next to him to wash mine. As he was done, he turned and said "Hi". It was amazing! It made my day and my trip to California. Here I am 20 years later and it still puts a smile on my face.
He is a blue collar guy and that was always what I loved about him.
Thank you Tom!
