Base Salaries with Guarantees/Bonus Information:

Team Salary Cap Notes: --- Courtesy of AB81Rules
$1M of Garrett Celek's salary is now guaranteed. Here's an article that came out that AB wrote on Armstrong's extension. He has another one on Ahmad Brooks's salary de-escalating from $6.95M to $4.45M, $2.5M savings. Also Kilgore's base went up from $1M to $1.15M. And Lynch and Martin got raises from the PPE for playing enough snaps in their first 3 seasons, $1.818M for Martin, $1.838M for Lynch, those are their new base salaries for 2017. Also 4 players signed reserve/future deals, WR Rashad Ross, OL Norman Price, PK Nick Rose, and P Brock Miller. Ross got a 1yr $615K deal, Price & Rose 2yrs ($465K and $555K), Miller 3 yrs ($465K, $555K, $645K). Also from in season, Alex Balducci is signed through 2018, Raheem Mostert for 2017 at $615K, McManis through 2018, JaCorey Shepherd for 2017 $540K, Chris Harper for 2017 at $615K, Marcus Ball, and Vinnie Sunseri at $615K for 2017. Thresholds on what the 49ers typically give out in deals (AB81Rules): See Post #320

Free Agency:
Of the five teams that spent the most money during 2015's free-agency period, for example, only one -- the New York Jets -- finished with a winning record. According to Cardinals reporter Mike Jurecki, of the 86 players chosen for the most recent Pro Bowl, only two -- Arizona's Mike Iupati (who was signed away from the 49ers) and the Jets' Darrelle Revis -- were free-agent acquisitions last year.

Pre & Post-June 1st (May 12th) consideration cuts could be, if needed:
Colin Kaepernick - Opted out/Released
Antoine Bethea - Released
Torrey Smith - Released
Ahmad Brooks - $5.3M potential cap savings
Tramaine Brock - Released - $3.55M cap savings
Eric Reid - $5.68M potential cap savings; deal is fully guaranteed now; trade potential only

WCO Positions/Formations: Courtesy of Niners816
Kyle Shanahan's WCO - ESPN
Kyle Shanahan's WCO
Traditionally the Z is the #1 WR, but Kyle did an outstanding job of moving Julio Jones around to all the spots (Z, X, Zebra/E/Eagle). I guess that's the ultimate goal to find a true number 1 that can play them all. As far as our personnel, Torrey is primarily an X. His speed is his main asset and that's needed to function as the split end. Again, a Julio Jones can do it all much like Jerry could so you could put him anywhere. Jeremy Kerley is a Slot/E/Eagle/Zebra and if we find a true Flanker or #1, he could be deadly.

ESPN's article above reviews Kyle's favorite plays. It featured 11 pass plays. Above are the primary, or in some cases, secondary receivers based strictly on position...Zebra is a Slot WR in 11 or 01 personnel situations. Y is the online TE. The article refers to Slot as W:
1) Z
2) Z/Zebra
3) Y/Zebra
4) HB
5) Z
6) Z
7) HB/X
8) X/HB
9) Z
10) Zebra
11) Y

I'm slowly getting excited about this off season. Seattle is starting to fail as well as zona. Maybe the 49ers and rams can take over the next few years.

Here's an illustration of the slot WR in a WCO.

20 personnel (slot is referred to as E)

11 personnel (slot is referred to as Zebra)

10 personnel (one slot is E other is Eagle)

I'm not sure how Kyle does it but this is a traditional WCO set up.

Thus why I'm excited. Its like the first of the month and I have my check in hand ready to spend.

Feels like Christmas shopping
side note, the nfl should consider allowing the shannys of the world to hire staff before national signing day in NCAAF. Many DCs switch teams and sign new contracts prior to national signing day. We could have snagged one of them.

Bullet points at the end...I'd say damn near identical to last year. But this is a thread for the people. What do you think our team needs are?
[ Edited by NCommand on Feb 2, 2017 at 1:49 PM ]
bla... not new news... new GM and Head coach means new people, but really firing people who have done a great job despite the head coaches is stupid

At least now we got a bomb ass HC/GM duo. Everything else will fall into place in due time.
