I recall watching this with my old man and saw him celebrate like I've never seen him before. He introduced me to the 49ers in 1976 but it wasn't until that play that I became a lifelong fan (10 years old).

The first TD of the game was also on sprint option. Primary was the target on it though
The first TD is how it looks about 90% of the time. That's what made the catch so special.
It's just such a great football play.
Im gonna bump this again....because i love that the first and last TD of the title game was on the same play. One went to the primary and one went to the secondary.

I was living in Squaw Valley and drinking up a storm in the Beer Garden - a local's hangout!
One of my most favorite memories - EVER!

Was sitting in a college lounge watching the tv with 100 other people. Couldn't believe it happened to .... the 49ers. Perennial losers and bridesmaids. Against the ...Cowboys. The same Cowboys that employed Roger Staubach...? Bane of 49er existence? Surreal. On Mars. It felt like a Salvador Dali painting. I couldn't breathe.

I was only 2, so the times I've watched the game has been when I knew what happened. I would have loved the opportunity to feel the emotions swing in real time. From the catch to the fingernail tackle that would have broke everyone's heart to the sack-fumble on the final play. Just amazing, the niners won a game in which they turned the ball over 6 times.

Can't believe I'm this old. Now I guess I'll have to call Mom and thank her for taking me.

Keep Dwight in your prayers. I lost a great friend to ALS and its the worst disease ever. Sadly, he will decline pretty rapidly so its great the his teammates get together with him on a weekly basis to remember the good days.
I wish we could just go back in time and have it be 1981 again. Those were such great times to be a 49er fan.

That was before he had all those crazy holistic businesses in Foxboro and decided he was going to play until 95, Shaolin Temple Style. So, as an a consolidation prize, he gave us Jimmy G.

Yeah, listening to KNBR this morning, Murph and Mac were talking about the lunch they went to at the seafood restaurant and all the greats were there. Kuip was sad he couldn't attend (he was in Maui). Apparently, Dwight is still handsome, in good spirits, a practical jokester (he and Montana apparently were apparently the worst), but they think he might not be able to get out of the wheelchair in 3 months.
My family was cool and had my birthday party at Clark's By the Bay one year. I was mad he didn't come out and sing Happy Birthday but he wasn't there that night. I gotta find those pictures.

That was the last game my Dad, brother and I attended together. Pops said he didn't need to go to any more games, his team had FINALLY won the big one!
