It's about trends...right now our team is trending in a negative fashion. Lets see how it plays out but these statistics are telling you what is happening right now not the future.

The whole point of stats is to assess something then predict for the future. The sample size is too small for this year to be accurate.
There is a lot of trial and error to make the new scheme work with the players we have and work out what we need for the ones who do not fit or measure up.

I think this method of trial and error is why Chip's a college coach and not meant for the NFL. You adjust your scheme to the guys making millions of dollars not the other way around. Didn't he have this issue in Philly that got him fired?

True to a point. But aside from Kap who is getting pain millions and millions? Our players are not making that much as a group. Hence lots of cap space.
That said both players and coach have to change for each other to make it work. A good coach is a leader who takes the players in the right direction by encouraging their strengths and playing to them rather than their weaknesses

This team is more talented than the record indicates. Injuries have been the most obvious negative. Losing Bowman and Armstrong, along with Lynch's suspension just killed the defense.
There is a lot of young talent on the defensive side. Armstead and Buckner are still inexperienced but have shown what is to come once both are healthy and gain more experience. Add a NT and this defense improves 100% when healthy.
The offense is the big problem. QB play is obvious. So is the lack of quality receivers although they have been getting open much more often the past few weeks than in the beginning. Time and consistency will help the OL although now it is just not blocking well for the run game. (stating the obvious)
Until/unless the QB issue is solved, this team will struggle to win any of the remaining games...and that will be key to improving next season. Get a QB and you can play.

as far as offensive coaching goes it's better, but that's not saying much since Tomsula could possibly be the most incompetent "head coach" in NFL history. They won at least 3 of their games last year by accident. The offensive line this year is improved in pass protection not so much in run blocking, but the talent at the skill positions besides Torrey Smith(we have no idea how to utilize) and Carlos Hyde( proving to be overrated & won't last) is still terrible . That's what happens when you let your # 1 reciever walk and have no real replacement, and a WR from Canada doesn't count . I wouldn't blame Chip Kelly for this season, at least not yet. This is once again on our circus show of a front office

We lost Boldin, Boone, Bowman (injury), Williams (injury). We replaced them with Kerley and Streater at WR, Beadles at guard, nobody new at ILB, no new NT. This roster isn't exactly better, they lost key guys and didn't bring in anyone that great that isn't a rookie.
Let's see what Tomsula does with no Williams or Bowman. I guarantee it doesn't look any better. Let's not forget our already crappy QBs have looked even worse. Last year the coaches were at least familiar with the team going in.
Chip can definitely do better but it's crazy to think this team is more talented. They added Beadles and Kerley....and lost a lot more

The team finished -149 in point differential. The team is already at -75 through 7 games this year.
Point differential is something I am weighing heavily as a measure of improvement along with offensive and defensive rankings.

I agree with much of what you say here except for Kerley. He has been a very pleasant surprise. He has been the best slot receiver we have had for a while. He is ranked #38, ahead of guys like Brandon Marshall, Jordy Nelson and Julian Edelman. Boldin is ranked #78 among all WRs.
Kerley has not shown as well since Kaepernick took over, however, that is because of CK's aversion to tracking crossing routes. Gabbert was better at that.

Ranked #38th, in receiving yards?
