Why not, we sucked with what we were doing recently, so why not?

If I had it my way:
1. Since Kap is ways away, Ponder for Gabbert.
2. Dorsey for Purcell
3. Johnson or Robinson for Brock
4. Tartt for Bethea
I wouldn't touch the O-line right now. Although Garnett could help in the running game, I think the O-line is steady enough to leave it alone.

1) Garnett the starting LG over Beadles. Beadles is ranked #66. Garnett should be able to play at that level.
2) Dorsey starting NT over Purcell. Purcell has had some good plays but also made some bad plays due to inexperience. As he gains experience, he will eliminate those. Dorsey, when healthy, is very good.
3) Rashard Robinson becomes the primary Nickel corner. Ward regains slot role in Nickel. Chris Davis to the bench. Like Robinson. Davis has flashed but not dependable.
3) Get DuJuan Harris some touches on offense. We need more of a receiving threat out of the backfield. Harris has some burst and shake.
4) Use receiver by committee approach until someone, anyone, stands out. FULLY agree. Burbridge may be the guy to win some 50/50 balls. Other than that, I don't see much.
5) Make a QB change sometime between weeks 6 - 9 unless things improve significantly. Until #4 improves I don't see that a change in QB is going to make any difference. Even then, we are just moving chairs on the deck.
My comments above.
I like it, appreciate the feedback

Id cut M.Martin. sign/trade for a big body WR. Bench Bethea, Start Tartt. Start AA and Defo with Dial at the nose. And id have T.Brock on a short leash, another bad performance id look to trade or move him to the nickel and have Reaser or Robinson play outside. If we cant find a WR id have Streater and Smith on the outside with QP and Kerley playing slot

Davis gets some carries north and south , big back may surprise us with some regular carries . Ponders the key we need to get him in there .
Just stop with the ponder stuff...

Cut like half the team and just pick up practice squad players from good teams.

Offensive Personnel:
QB: Pick Your Poison
RB2: DuJuan Harris
TE: Promote Hamm
X WR Rod Streater
Y WR (SLOT): No Change but more Aaron Burbridge
LG: Joshua Garnett
Defensive Personnel:
RDE: No Change (Buckner needs to grow)
NT: Glenn Dorsey
LDE: Quinton Dial (Arik Armstead is obviously reeling)
WILL: Eli Harold (base)/Marcus Rush (to rush)
TED: Nick Bellore
RCB: Rashard Robinson
LCB: Dontae Johnson (Jimmie Ward when healthy if DJ doesn't look good)
SS: Jaquiski Tart (Jimmie Ward when healthy if JT doesn't look good)
Need to play much more press man; 1on1. Offense needs to pass more on first downs and scheme better.

I like your analysis and the fact you don't mention Kap. That game Ponder beat us when he was with the Vikings stayed with me. He is not the answer, unless Gabbert picks up his game (I'm not sure he has one at this point) give him a shot. Thus far Tank and Harold could audition for the Invisible Man role. Rush deserves a chance. Ponder could be as better bridge than Gabbert.

I always thought going back to 4-3 would better suited for our current roster specially since most of our lineups are defending the passing game. DeFo and Arms should have more snaps together in order to defend the run or rushing the passer.

I wonder if AA's injury is more of a factor than we think... Justin Smith, Kap, etc. played through injuries, only to get treatment/surgery at the end of the season. Is this guy in deep pain and causing him to suck or does he just suck?

We really need to. I don't think we have the personnel for a 3-4 anymore.

We got enough depth, would it hurt to mix it up more often if not full time (4-3)

I would start Robinson and Ward as the starting corners and start playing more man/press man. Try and trade brock. Stick with Davis as the Nickle corner. Tartt as the starting SS. Bethea comes in during Nickle situations and plays next to Bowman. Start Buckner and AA. Put Tank in the starting spot and in the base defense and rotate Harold in for Nickle. Sign Keyarris Garrett off of the Panthers practice squad and cut K. Martin. Get Davis more carries. Start Kap. Garnett starts. Throw a deep ball.

First off there are a few horrible players that I absolutely do not want to see on the field again, and then you have the awful players that should be gone by next year.
Horrible:
GABBERT! 😡👎. - dude is literally a backup on maybe half the teams in in the league, maybe a 3rd stringer on the other half. He really doesn't have the balls to play the position effectively imo.
Draughn - Am I the only one who is tired of this journeyman dancing around the backfield for no gain? Davis or Harris step up please.
Awful:
Bethea
Purcell
Tank
C. Davis
Wilhoite
Bell
Can't complain about the O Line.
The receivers are who they are.
