Nah the year I won, around this point I was playing catch up too IIRC. A few really good weeks could get you right back in it.

It always take 3 or 4 weeks for the good teams to become obvious but it seems like this year has been even more out of sorts with what was expected. Who would have thought Carolina would implode out of the gate?

The other factor has been the overall mediocrity of the league. Half the teams in the league are within 1 game of .500. Of course that is the way the advertisers want it as that sells more ad time if your team is "still in it" but it makes picking winners crazy.

Agree. As much as I dislike Bad Bill, the man is a genius when it comes to getting men to play together as a team. Everybody thought they would go 0-4 at the beginning but won 3 games with a very inexperienced QB. That says a lot about the coaching staff.

As much as I loved Bill Walsh, I believe Belichick is even better. Walsh did not deal with his depression issues well and it forced him to retire before he should have. Belichick has just soldiered through all that kind of stuff and keeps winning with a wide range of players. Of course, having Brady helps.

This is probably worst I have ever seen in field goal misses, kickers are missing close range kicks on the regular. Srsly wtf is happening to the league dip in quality of play at every level.
