Hopefully he was just rusty hadn't played in a game in long time.
But he also might be done.

At least you're honest.
I agree I cannot watch Gabbert, I'd rather see Ponder or Driskell out there. This dude has to be the most boring QBs to watch ever.
The stats back that up by his terrible 3rd down success rate. But wishing an injury is way too far and unfortunately Kap isn't looking too decent himself, right now that is.

Next year for sure he will be gone we can save about 15 mil with about 5 mil dead. Make it a june 1st cut and you can split that 5 over 2 years. Not that we need the extra money although I hope we take some of that 55 million we will have or whatever it is and get a legit WR in here.

Because Baalke could have easily traded Kap, gained a draft pick, saved his salary $$$ AND would have been forced to draft a QB earlier. Maybe Lynch or Dak if he had any talent as a GM.
Why should the 49ers have to spend $5 mil to help another team out? That is a dumb precedent to set. Teams could take him at his whole salary or f**k off.

If he's on the roster April 1st his full salary is guaranteed once again.

Kaepernick doing what he does. Run around in circles in the pocket and take off running even if there is no pressure. He has no clue what he is doing.
Dude is done and we are stuck with him.

Its an awful precedent to set.
You bring back Kaepernick, you have him compete, if he can't hack it, he can't hack it and you trade or cut him at the end of the season.

No... Kaep is probably the 2nd best backup qb in the league behind Prescott.

Let's wait until Prescott plays in an actual NFL game before anointing him. He wound up in one of the most favorable situations that any QB could be in. I liked him coming out of the draft but the hype is getting a bit much.

no harm in keeping him. No team is gonna trade for him with this salary. You still need a backup QB. Keep him the whole year then cut him next year and move on. He needs a fresh start somewhere else
