-Basically Kaepernick was the old Kaep. No pocket presence, not scanning the field, leaving the pocket before he has to. Locking in on his target. Same old same old. Kaeps done. This competition is essentially over and Kaep has mailed it in.
-O line blocked well throughout this game. Saw a few miscues from an educational standpoint early in the game. (Celek not chipping Clay Matthews) which would have resulted in a nice gain. Overall though, solid blocking. Trent Brown is starting to make it look easy. Thought he performed really well. He just engulfs d-linemen0. Davis looked good at guard. Kilgore looked nice. Saw Beadles get jolted a few times by a damn good DL in Neal. Even saw some nasty streak from Garnett in the 2nd qtr. Really well improved unit.
-So impressed with what I see from Tank Carradine. He has to be the starter opposite Brooks on opening day. Saw multiple times he put Bulaga and Baktiari on skates. Just packs an absolute jolt and really setting the edge nice. Just has to learn to keep containment. Doesnt always have to make the play. He got flagged for a hands to the face which I thought was very questionable. Ref will call that every time though if he sees an OL helmet swing back. I cant believe Im going to say this but he looked a bit Aldon Smith-esque. OLB is his position on this team.
-Didnt stand out on a stat sheet but DeForest Buckner made some nice plays standing up some olinemen... including Bulaga. Held his ground and packed some punch and was solid against the run. I havent seen the pass rush threat yet but that will come with time. Hes only going to get better.
-Saw exactly what Ive seen time and time again from Blair. Hes a good football player.
-Still not seeing many targets being thrown at Ward. Hes looking good over there at RCB. Played a little too soft on a 3rd down (td series) and he could have played that better.
-Nice catch by Patton for the TD even though it was a bit behind him. He should have had 2 as he toasted Sam shields but Gabbert overthrew him. Strong route runner.
-Little upset Ellington cant stay on the field.
-Ray Ray has the MLB spot next to Bowman locked down. Or at least he should. Looks good in coverage and made a nice TFL even though he should thank Buckner for that play. Has to learn to control his emotions though.
-Where the hell is Torrey Smith?
-Nice cutback by Hyde for the 28 yd scamper.
-Good job by the RBs holding on to the ball.
Lots of positives. A few negatives but overall good.. other then the god awful play by Kaepernick.
