Patton
Tank
Dawson
Gabbert has consistently kept the offense in rhythm all three weeks overall. Led scoring drives in each game.

1st team defense without Bowman and Armstead played well in the 1st half before they got gassed / replaced by backups.

Mike Davis continues to impress

Driskel looks much improved already.
Rush has had 4 sacks in the last 2 games.. tank playing well. Patton did something.

What else?

According to the boxscore that never happened.

The Good
-Hyde ran the ball well, he is such a beast that I can't see him having less than 1,200 yards rushing in this offense if he can stay healthy.

-Davis looked pretty good, made some nice catches and didn't fumble the football.

-Harris didn't fumble the football and showed some nifty movies in the open field.

-Quinton Patton got to boogie, scored a TD, made a nice special teams tackle and will likely start out as the #2 WR.

-Gabbert didn't turn the football over and kept the offense moving

-The OL held up well early on in pass and run blocking.

-You can't stop Marcus Rush, you can only hope to contain him.

-Vance McDonald made his best effort to grab some of Kaepernick's wobbly off target throws.

-Driskel has looked better every single game and he ran the offense well.

-Christian Ponder can go back to renovating his house.

-Celek continues to be a solid all around TE that can do it all.

-Tank looks like he's ready to bring the pain.

The bad
-Erik Pears still looks utterly hapless against backup players.

-Jerome Simpson couldn't catch the football with this:

-Corey Lemonier has no clue what he's doing, he just lowers his head and charges forward.

-Christian Ponder realized he is actually Christian Ponder

-Chris Davis got served up extra well done tonight

-Most of the DL struggled to get any kind of push against the Packers OL.

-Jim O'Neil. Secondary got beat up pretty badly as Packers kept taking advantage of a huge cushion that their WRs were getting.

-Getting lit up by an undrafted quarterback.

-Injuries. A bunch of 49ers went down tonight and poor Eli Harold keeps getting lit up by his own guys.

It looks like we will get the first overall pick to trade away for a fortune or draft Garrett
Among others, Driskell. I'd be comfortable making him the backup and letting him take his lumps if called upon. Better to find out if he's worth anything.

Starting Offense with Gabbert leading it, and Defense missing players. Way better than last year, if also a long, long way to go to get back to where we were four years ago.

The Good:
Gabbert - He isn't perfect but the offense moves with him
Driskel's Accuracy
Rush With Another Sack Hopefully Kicking Lemonier Off The Team
Mike Davis & DaJuan Harris
1st Team Offense & Defense Held Tough Vs GB
Tight Ends/RBs - Better be ready to carry the team because the WR's wont do crap

The Bad:
Kap - Entire Offense/Team Went To Hell After He Came In
Ponder - Rookie Mistake
Time Of Possession... 40 to 20
The Drops - What about 8?
WR's minus a few plays
A bunch of penalties which was great the first 2 weeks
Chris Davis/Reaser... our potential #3 cb's got beat all night

Starting O-line has improved.
Gabbert led a flawless TD drive. Made it look easy

Good summary.
don't really get the doom and gloom after this game. 49ers - who are not a good team - were hanging with packers- a good team- when #1s were playing. sure once the backups got in we got whipped, but hey- thats what better teams have - more meaningful depth. my guess is people held some kind of irrational hope that kaepernick would be the difference between a 5-6 win team and a 11-12 win team. newsflash, not even HoF qbs have that kind of impact.

anyway, positives in no order

1. tank's pass rush (his run blocking was pretty bad tho)
2. patton. got open on that bad pass, scored a TD. baby steps.
3. first string oline. nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. just doing its job.
4. buckner. his run game help has been huge. we really need that because run game D is very porous. I know we've been spoiled for 5 years since 2010, but still
5. ray-ray. energy and drive
6. marcus rush. energy and drive, might have earned a 53 spot
7. all RBs. no fumbles this game, all running hard fighting for yards and being elusive (harris in partcular). great to see.
8. driskel. looked like he was playing a college system, but was deliberate and looks like a natural in a zone read.
That lateral cut by Hyde was filthy. The LB that filled the hole had no idea where he went.
I thought we did well against a playoff calibre team. First team offense and defense played well. Bowman, Brooks, and Armstead didn't play at all tonight. Those guys would have gotten the D off the field faster. The o-line depth, especially at the tackle position, seems really weak. It's clear that our corners will be tested quite a bit this year.

OL: First team o-line played great until Kap was in.
QB: Gabs moved the offense and missed a TD to Patton, Kap suxored, Driskel played great for a rook, and I now know why Ponder was painting his house in August.
WR: Patton played well. Ellington is hurt again, he just can't play in this league physically. Simpson is absolutely awful.
LB: Ray Ray look good. Rush must make this team. Willhoit is making career decisions out there and not hitting the holes to meet the rb.
DL: Blair is awesome.
CB: Rooks look good - both Robinson and Redmond (good to see Redmond make it into a game)

I agree with all that. And what is up with Ellington? So much ability and yet seems to rarely be on the field.

Patton is a positive.

I keep hoping that DeAndrew will get better. He's just so inconsistent.

I worry about WR, especially with them dropping like flies and with the drops.
