I don't think we get a top flite WR until we have our Franchise QB. Our current QBs aren't known for their accuracy, nor are they particularly good passers. Getting a great WR with no QB to throw to him doesn't make sense to me . So let's use the guys we got now, hope boht QBs learn to throw to them with a fair chance of a reception, and hold off on any more WRs until we have our FRanchise QB. Once we do that, fine, THEN get the WR you want. Now...I just think that is a wasted move. And certainly one or more of those guys can come up with some catches. A lot depends on the QB knowing the exact route, step for step, second for second. Let these guys have the role this yr. Next yr, we get a tough WR.
I'm not saying Justin Hunter is a top shelf WR just an upgrade with upside who's gonna cost next to nothing...6-4 4.4 wheels isn't a bad thing to have. I'd rather have him them Simpson.
Yup, any upgrade we make at WR is a good deal. As long as we are keeping our core of good young players, even without a franchise QB we shouldn't hesitate to upgrade the receiving corps. Better receivers can help us now. And when we do go get " our guy" it would be nice to have some good targets already in place for him to throw too.
Agreed. I am not opposed to getting upgrades at WR, in fact that is a good idea. But going after a great WR, well, that is what I was thinking of. Doing that at this time would be non- sensical . First have someone that can reliably get the ball to him, and that guy, at least at this present time, isn't on the team. We got guys who can catch at present, but aside from Blaine/McD, who else does he click with and know his routes. That is where I would like to see the focus. Then if we have WR that can't catch a ball handed to them, get rid of him. Right now Blaine pretty much knows where McD is going to be...on most routes. During the BW days, Joe knew where every WR and every TE was on every play. We aren't in that class as of yet. And Kap...he will need to do exactly the same. Last yr I wasn't impressed with either QB and knowing WR and TE routes. Of course, when Martin ended up in Kap's lap or Blaine's lap, knowing where your WR is didn't really matter. So this yr both guys get to learn routes, as they will get the time to read their progressions.
