So what the heck is the plan at WR?

Someone told me last year De White was the best player to every strap on a pair of 7 on 7 shorts. Hope that dude makes it this time.

While I didn't think WR would be a top target in the Draft, I thought it could and should have worked its way into the mid-rounds. Now we only have one true starting caliber WR who basically isn't too dimensional beyond streaking downfield.
Has Baalke admitted he has no idea what to do at the position? Is Trent very-wishfully thinking that Kelly can get guys who've largely underwhelmed (Patton, Ellington) to get better production with whatever QB they roll out there?
Discuss.
Plan? Let the battles begin!
X WR: Torrey Smith (772); Jerome Simpson (85) & Bryce Treggs (0)
Y WR (SLOT): Bruce Ellington (143); Aaron Burbridge (0), DeAndrew White (30) & DiAndre Campbell (0)
Z WR: DeAndre Smelter (0); Quinton Patton (424), Dres Anderson (0) & Eric Rogers (0)
Hmm. Hope Kelly's system gets them to produce. Aside from Smith it is a questionable bunch. I'd rather shore up the lines and DB like baalke tried to do in the draft. WRs aren't that important to a rebuild.

Very true...this could be an epic group or a total fail. I doubt it's somewhere in between. We KNOW Smith is a great receiver when he's not a 49er. We know Ellington and Patton have barely been utilized in any real and consistent capacity (and Patton is a bit of a knucklehead). We know Simpson can stick his landings on flips when he's not high. Outside of that? No clue...other than potential upside. Raw group indeed.

Vet cuts due to Draft:
10. Cordarrelle Patterson, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver: The drafting of Laquon Treadwell in the first round was a reminder of how far the No. 29 overall pick of the 2013 draft has fallen in the organization. Patterson's fifth-year option was declined on Monday. He will have to make the team as a return specialist because snaps at wide receiver are far from guaranteed. At least we'll always have this memory:

Nobody knows. We either have some untapped talent or we go heavy at the position in next draft

Easily the worst part of the team. Torrey smith is a nice player but not the #1 wr you'd want. The rest are so meh it's not even funny.

This. Nobody knows what Kelly thinks of the WRs and we have never seen them in his scheme. There are a lot of bodies to go through.
Torrey, Patton, Ellington, Smelter, Burbridge, Rogers, White, Anderson...
plus they might add an FA cut or two.
Maybe some of these guys work out and do well, in anycase I trust that Kelly can figure out who deserves to stay and who doesnt. With an actual modern passing offense, some of these guys might surprise.

Every problem with the roster can't be solved in one draft folks.

I want to not sign scrubs like Simpson and actually see what these guys can do with some playing time. Finally figure out if we have anything or if we don't
