Strength of Schedule

Apparently the Niners have one of the toughest schedules in 2016 for what seems like the seventh consecutive year now. Shouldn't there be at least some letup after finishing last in their division? I don't really get how they keep drawing these daunting schedules that many years in a row. Maybe the parity in the league just makes it seem like it's hard as hell year after year.

14 of the 16 games are pre-determined. I could tell you right now that 2017 will be ..
HOME: Seattle, LA, arizona, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Dallas, NY
ROAD: Seattle, LA, Arizona, Houston, indy, Washington, Philly.
Where you finish in your division only affects 2 games on the schedule.

Truth to the above but it does feel like that.

Its too hard to say who will be good and who will be bad at this juncture. But, yes, at first glance, it looks tough as hell.

There's a process.
You play your own division twice, a whole division from your conference once (based on a rotation), a division from the other conference (rotation again) and you play the two teams from the other two divisions in your conference (aside from the one you're already playing) that ranked the same as you did last year.

Well just looking at the 2017 non-–NFCW opponents on paper (-2 yet undetermined teams) that schedule looks easy as hell compared to the last several years.

The only reason the schedule is tough is because the team isn't very good.

Eight wins? I don't even see 5 wins, and those 5 wins aren't exactly gimmes

Exactly. Miami, New Orleans, Chicago are all bad teams. We are just worse. And even then, my "predicted wins would come against teams like those.. We honestly could be looking at another top 5 pick next year
