I believe the direction for the next 3 to 5 years rest with Baalke and his decisions in free agency and this draft. The picks and the cap space are there, if he hits a home run we're right back. If not, time to wave bye-bye Baalke.

We should go about rebuilding in the right way, from the trenches outward. I want a dominant defense and running game. I don't feel that just having a top notch quarterback is going to do the job done in our division. That can come later, after we've built a solid team on both sides of the ball. Defense and running games still win championships, always have.

I think next years draft will focus on finding a playmaking WR or franchise QB. I just hope Baalke gets help in that scouting process since finding those types of players seems to be his weakness.

You don't think that's a lil much to ask? Homeruns? He just has to not be an idiot and draft best player available instead of his diamond in the ruff players. The guy should not be the only decision maker. Other people need to be part of the draft process.

Agreed. We won a lot of games with that mindset. If we look at the last few SB winners (Seattle should have won the year before) you win with running game and D. Most defenses that are in the SB will be able to shut down the QB if there's no running game so you need to be able to run the football.

Around this time next year we'll be celebrating our Super Bowl 51 victory

But yeah, I hear you OP. It'll take at least another 2 years to get back to that talent level.
Hopefully the game planning/scheme/coaching is top notch by then too
Aside from what Harbaugh brought us, we pretty much are the Raiders. Without the Harbaugh Era we have same playoff drought as them. Now obviously you can't just eliminate a 4 year period (3 years of greatness) and act like it never happened. But that seems like what Trent and jed want to do. Act like it never happened. We can act like we're not the Raiders or whatever. But we're really not any better

Exactly Spot on. Take away 2011-2013 and We are just as Bad if not worse then the Raiders. And the 49ers go and fire the only HC to take them to the Super Bowl in 20 years.

In Baalke's defense, we had four major retirements within the span of 3 months and key injuries on the oline. There isn't much he could do. It could be that Pears and Devey were the best available at the time.
But yeah. Baalke needs to drop the mic hard in the draft and FA.
